UPDATE, 6:13: Joyce said he was still stiff and sore, but was receiving treatment and would test his back to see if he could possibly pinch hit tonight. He and Maddon seemed confident it was not something that would keep him out long, though Joyce said it had been bothering him for a few days .... Both DH Luke Scott (back) and INF Jeff Keppinger (broken toe) are progressing well and expected to be activated on this road trip, with Keppinger a possibility this weekend in Philadelphia.
UPDATE, 3:56: Rays lineup, without Joyce, whose back is still sore and tight:
BREAKING: The Rays are set to take on the Nationals again tonight, with talk of last night's ejection of reliever Joel Peralta for having pine tar on his glove likely to be a prime topic of conversation.
The Rays also have to check on the status of OF Matt Joyce, who left last night's game with back stiffness and wasn't sure what was wrong.
Rookie Chris Archer will be on the mound - and at the plate - for the Rays in his major-league debut, and the Nats will have phenom Stephen Strasburg going for them.
