STEWART RETURNS TO LARGO, REJOINS TEAM

Football

Largo running back Jarvis Stewart is back with the team after being reassigned to a secondary school this spring for disciplinary reasons.

Stewart, a junior, has officially enrolled at Largo and joined the team in weight training sessions this week.

Packers coach Rick Rodriguez did not comment on the incident that led to Stewart spending the spring semester at Pinellas Secondary.

"We're glad Jarvis was able to take care of everything he needed to do and get this resolved," Rodriguez said. "Everything worked out."

Stewart has been one of the county's top backs the past two seasons. Last year, he was averaging 120 yards a game when he tore a muscle in his hip against Dixie Hollins on Oct. 6. He returned three weeks later only to aggravate the injury and miss the rest of the season.

Rodriguez said Stewart has fully recovered and will be ready in the fall.

"Jarvis has looked good from what we've seen in the weight room," Rodriguez said.

Stewart's return bolster's Largo's depth. During his absence, the Packers relied on Harry Brown and Derrick Doss, both of whom play linebacker, to handle the bulk of the carries.
