Broadband fight risks funding - June 17
In the article, Sarasota Republican Doug Holder is quoted as saying:
"The idea of a government agency taking a program that could be administered by a private entity that could create revenue in the private sector is wrong ..."
Excuse me? Government funds are paying for it, no matter who does the work. It's taxpayer money covering it whether it's the Department of Management Services or Connected Nation.
While Connected Nation is stated to be "nonprofit," this outfit has been mapping in 13 states and is paying a pretty penny for all these lobbyists to twist political arms.
The Department of Management Services doesn't pay lobbyists, therefore it can do the mapping at lower cost. Sorry, Doug, this is a no-brainer.
