Obama arrives in Miami for two fundraisers

President Obama touched down in Miami at 4:38 p.m. for two fundraisers, including a Marc Anthony concert.

From a press pool report: "After shaking hands with the greeters, Potus headed over to a rope line of around 30 people, who cheered as he approached, taking off his jacket and handing it to Marvin Nicholson. "How's everybody doing?" Obama said.

One man said "Thank you very much," rather fervently as he grasped potus's hand.

Greeting the president: Oscar Braynon, State Senator, District 33; Sally Heyman, Miami-Dade County Commissioner; Barbara Jordan, Miami-Dade County Commissioner; Gwen Margolis, State Senator, District 35; Jean Monestime, Miami-Dade County Commissioner; Frederica Wilson, Congresswoman for FL-17.

UPDATE 5:55 p.m.: More from pool reporter Stephen Collinson, AFP White House Correspondent:

The president arrived at a closed fundraiser with 30 guests at an upscale home in the Sunset Islands area of Miami Beach. Tickets cost $40,000 per person, and proceeds will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties, a campaign official said.

Chef David Schwadron came into the pool hold and started to tell reporters about the "Welcome to Miami" menu "downstairs" -- presumably where the fundraiser was taking place, before he was beckoned away by an unseen person. From what we heard the meal is duck salad over a dragon fruit carpaccio with mango sauce.
