The Salvation Army Spring Hill Family Store, 3570 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, has renovated its store, and it features a new layout, carpeting and tile, a new parking lot and rest rooms.

There are more than 10,000 new items, including clothing and shoes for the entire family; furniture; computers and electronics, including televisions and small household appliances; artwork; sporting goods; books, and home accessories.

Proceeds fund the Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center, which provides a clean and healthy living environment, food and counseling to those suffering from addiction.

Business owners are invited to promote their businesses while helping Communities in Schools of Hernando County, a national dropout prevention program, by participating in a new campaign - A Program of Hope.

There are two parts to the campaign. Businesses are invited to purchase ad space in the program's catalog to demonstrate their support for dropout prevention efforts in Hernando. Also, businesses can receive table space to the Program of Hope Holiday Extravaganza and Car Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Towne Square Mall, 3021 Commercial Way, Spring Hill.

The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Jericho Road Ministries' Operation Hope, will have a food drive during November.

Businesses, residents, students, clubs and schools are invited to participate by collecting specific food items for use at one of Jericho's five distribution sites.

Items needed include: toilet paper, dry milk, peanut butter, jelly, rice, boxed mashed potatoes, canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats, canned soups, pasta, spaghetti sauce, boxed macaroni and cheese, and breakfast cereals.

Jericho representatives will collect the items at the chamber's monthly membership breakfast meeting from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Gold Club Lane, south of Brooksville.

Crescent Community Clinic, 5244 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, is seeking volunteer technicians who are licensed to perform ultrasounds for a new Women's Health and Wellness pilot program the clinic will start soon.

Technicians will be needed on Saturdays once a month or once a quarter for a few hours. Volunteers have sovereign immunity under the Florida Department of Health. Individuals interested should call Barbara weekdays, except Thursdays, at (352) 610-9916.

A Thanksgiving Day Jazzercise class will be from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Spring Hill Jazzercise Fitness Center, 7257 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill.

Admission is a nonperishable food item, paper product or monetary donation to benefit People Helping People of Hernando County.

The 60-minute class, organized by local Jazzercise instructor Becky Mooneyham, will include a warmup, high-energy aerobic routines, and a muscle-toning and cool-down stretch segment. Classes are open to the public, and participants should dress to exercise.

The free fair is open to any Hernando or Pasco county resident or employer. It is sponsored by Career Central, Employ Florida Marketplace, Verizon and Roadmaster Drivers School. Between 15 and 20 employers will be in attendance, with openings in construction; plumbing; transportation; maintenance; electrical; heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and other fields.

Vendors are being sought for the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce's fifth annual Light Up Ridge Manor Christmas Festival from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Sunrise Plaza, 31100 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor West.

The event is free and open to the public. Santa Claus will visit. There also will be a train ride, a cakewalk, a DJ, the Smokey Bear House with Smokey Bear, clowns and balloons, children's games and activities, raffles, vendors and other activities. Proceeds will benefit Eastside Elementary School.
