USF volleyball pulled off a big upset Friday in the opening round of the Big East tournament, as the sixth-seeded Bulls knocked off third-seeded Notre Dame with a four-set victory to advance to Saturday's semifinals.
The Bulls -- who were swept by Notre Dame in the regular season -- earned their first-ever win against Notre Dame and reach the semifinals for just the third time in their eight seasons in the Big East, having lost there in 2007 and 2009. They'll likely face second-seeded Marquette on its home court -- the Bulls nearly upset the Golden Eagles in Milwaukee, going to five sets before falling 15-12 in the final set.
The Bulls are now 17-13 in their first season under coach Courtney Draper, with four wins in their last five matches.
