1, 2 FALL; IRISH, SEC EYES SMILING

Kansas State and Oregon, ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the BCS, respectively, were upset Saturday night, putting No. 3 Notre Dame and the winner of the SEC title game back in the forefront of the national title race. K-State was routed by unranked Baylor 52-24, and No. 14 Stanford went into Oregon and showed that the potent Ducks could be slowed, winning 17-14 in overtime. The Fighting Irish likely will move to No. 1 when tonight's BCS rankings are released (8:30, ESPN), and the SEC gets back in the picture with Alabama and Georgia likely squaring off in the SEC title game.
