AMHAUS, Gordon Arthur "Gordy", 65, of Brandon, passed away Nov. 11, 2012. He was predeceased by his parents, Elroy and Armella Amhaus. ANDERSON, Karolina 90, of Dover, passed away Nov. 13, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Anderson. BERRES, Clifford Roman 85, of Spring Hill, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Born in Milwaukee, WI on Feb. 8, 1927. Served our Country with the U.S. Navy in WWII. Graduated from Marquette University with Masters Degree in 1958. Cliff had a 36-year career as a chemist with SC Johnson, before retiring in 1989 and relocating to Spring Hill in 1993. BEXLEY, Craig Linton 58, of Tampa, passed away on Nov. 14, 2012. Craig was born in Ocala and raised in Land O' Lakes. He was predeceased by parents, S.C. "Bud" and Patricia Bexley and brother Patrick. Craig leaves behind his loving wife of 32 years, Debra and sons, Bryan (Natalie) of Land O' Lakes, Kevin and Keith of Tampa; and many aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and friends. Craig was a graduate of Berkeley Preparatory School and received a bachelor's degree in business from the University of South Florida. Craig was president of Bexley Brothers Inc., a family owned and operated cattle business. He was a 5th generation cattle rancher who spent his entire life in the cattle businessit was his legacy. Craig was admired and respected by all who knew him. BIERBOWER, Fairalee L. "Faye", 92, of St. Petersburg, passed away Nov. 15, 2012 at St. Anthony's Hospital. She was born June 17, 1920 in Lulu, FL. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Petersburg High School and a 1942 graduate of Mound Park Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from nursing in 1982 from Bayfront Medical Center as an Assistant Director of Nursing. BRINK, Charles W. LCRD (USN Ret.) went on his Eternal Patrol, Oct. 27, 2012. Our father was born on a sheep camp near the city of Roswell, NM, April 16, 1925. He was raised in the San Diego, El Cajon region of California, at the age of twelve his mother died and he and his five sisters were left to survive the hardships of the times. At the age of 17, WWII had erupted, and he immediately enlisted in the Navy. He had been raised on flour tortillas and beans, and on his first day in the Navy he was served steak and all the milk he could drink. He decided the Navy was heaven and his destiny. He became a Submariner and served on the USS Icefish, Bluegill, Catfish, Tusk and Torsk. He was in the second class at the nuclear power school, and served under Admiral Rickover. Our father's Navy career took us from coast to coast and to Rota, Spain, where he was squadron material officer and made lieutenant commander. His last tour of duty was as the Commanding Officer, Naval Reserve Training Center, Tampa and St. Petersburg. He served in WWII, The Korean War and Vietnam. He started in the Navy as a sailor with only a 9th grade education and ended his career as an officer. Following his Naval service, he distinguished himself in the private sector and was a founding member of Florida Credit Service, which after his retirement was acquired by Equifax. Our father was preceded in death by our mother in 2005, Amelia "Amy", his loving wife of 57 years. She was his rock and his soul. We survive him, his three children; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and his extended family throughout the world, Ralph Brink, The Villages, his children Kara (John Amador), Adam and Christina and his grandchildren, Samantha and Tyler; Charles Brink, Tampa and Park City, UT, along with his wife Linda and their children Bryan (Kelsey) and Christopher (Brooke), and their grandchildren Jackson, Carter, Braxton, Mateo, and Ellie; Celene Brink, St. Petersburg and her husband, J. Kipp Wall, and their children Jamie (Sandra) and Weston, and their grandchildren, Alexander and Lucas. "Pay it forward", our father believed in this expression to describe the concept of asking the beneficiary of a good deed to "repay" it to others instead of to the original benefactor, he lived kindness. BROWN, Josephine Patricia "Jo" 84, of St. Petersburg, born on June 1, 1928 in Gloucester, MA, passed peacefully with her loving family surrounding her on Nov. 14, 2012. "Jo" moved to St. Petersburg in 1955. She graduated from Gloucester High School in 1946, went on to graduate from Bryant College in Providence, RI, and also Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston. She retired from The Times Publishing Company in St. Petersburg after 31 years as a typesetter, food and fashion columnist. She enjoyed her career immensely. She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Norman Reed Brown Sr.; sister, Louise Crone; brother-in-law, Bob Crone; brother-in-law, James Chisholm; sister-in-law, Barbara K. Gamage; and brother-in-law, Hasty Gamage. She is survived by her three children, Norman R. Brown Jr., Kimberly K. Foust (husband, Darrell) and Jon K. Brown all of St. Petersburg; her four granddaughters, Carman M. Pulliam (husband, Corbin) of Georgia, Kristy K. Begerow, Alexandrea K. Brown, Samantha N. Brown of St. Petersburg; three great-grandchildren, John Mark Roesch Jr., London K. Roesch of St. Petersburg, and Ellie R. Pulliam of Georgia. BUTLER, Charles "Cliff" 86, of Pinellas Park, Passed away Nov. 14, 2012. He moved here in 1934 from his native Jacksonville, GA. He owned and operated Butler's Nursery in Pinellas Park and raised cattle, catfish and trees at his farm in Lake County. Cliff was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of F.N.G.A. CRUICKSHANK, Agnes E. 85, of Tampa, passed away Nov. 15, 2012. She was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies and grew up in Lower Edinboro. She moved to Tampa 22 years ago and was later joined by her husband, Clive Cruickshank. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clive Cruickshank. DIGGS, Col. Thomas I. "Tommy", 92, of Sun City Center, FL, passed away Nov. 3, 2012. Born in Washington, DC March 22, 1920, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris, of 48 years. Survivors include his son, Jon F. Diggs of Boise, ID; his grandchildren, Jonathan & Maria of Albuquerque, NM; and 5 great-grand-children. Col. Diggs made the U.S.A.F. his career, (1942-1971) starting in WWII with the 8th Air Force in England, surviving being shot down over France two days after D-Day. He retired in 1971, living in Washington DC, Rio Rancho, NM, and Sun City Center, FL, with summers in Kenne-bunkport, ME. He lived a good and full life in service to his country and family. ESSIG, A. Thelma 95, of St. Petersburg, went to be with the angels on Oct. 26, 2012. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, and came to Florida in 1952. She was married to Joseph and had a son, Joseph Lee, whom both preceded her in death. Survived by her daughter, Jo Essig Trehy; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. FEE, Francis J. 83, of Treasure Island, passed away Nov. 16, 2012. Born in the Bronx, NY, he came here in 1991 from Westwood NJ. Francis worked as a steam fitter in the construction industry. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle. FOGARTY, John J. passed away peacefully following a long illness on Nov. 13, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 7, 1927 to Mary Agnes (May) McCabe and Peter Fogarty, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the waning days of WWII and was deployed to the Pacific, China and Japan. Following a brief stint with the Transit Police, he was appointed to the New York City Fire Department in 1951. He was a member of the Gene O'Kane Division of FDNY retired. He studied for and passed each civil service promotion exam as soon as he was eligible and rose rapidly through the ranks to Deputy Chief. Subsequently, he was appointed as Deputy Assistant Chief and later as Assistant Chief and Manhattan Borough Commander. John retired in 1984 and moved to his dream house beside a golf course. He enjoyed his retirement and was always ready to travel on a moment's notice. He married Florence Hayes in 1947 and they raised three children together, Jacqueline, Kevin and Allison; and enjoyed five grandchildren. John was a loving and generous father and husband, and a wise counselor to his friends and family. A devout Catholic, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and many friends & brother firefighters. A gathering will take place on Nov. 19th from 3-5 pm at the funeral home. GONZALEZ, Mario 91, of Tampa, passed away on Nov. 17, 2012. He is preceeded in death by his wife and soul-mate, Gloria. HABIT (HABIB), Jacques of St. Petersburg, passed away Nov. 11, 2012. Jacques was born in Benghazi, Libya, on Nov. 23, 1929, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1979. He held a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan and a M.B.A. from Cornell University. He was an Associate Professor at WCS College, Danbury, CT. His career included 25 years at diversified employment in industry and he traveled world-wide. He loved to study world events and write. He was a wonderful husband to his wife of 22 years, and was known as PaPa Jacques to family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Zachino Habib; mother, Beatrice Levi Habib; brother, Shalom; sisters, Rina, Liliana, and Evelina. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; brothers, Aldo Habib (Israel) and Jonathan Habib (Italy). In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service and he will be cremated. HARDEE, Lucille 85, of St. Petersburg, passed away Nov. 14, 2012. She was born in Cambridge, MD, and moved here in 1949. Lucille was an RN and worked at St. Anthony's, Bay Pines and retired from St. Petersburg General Hospital. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Wesley; her sister, Emily Wilbur; neice, Patti Wilbur; nephew, Jon Wilbur (Necia) and their five children. MORA, Shirleyann 87, of Tampa, died on Nov. 12, 2012. Mrs. Mora moved to Tampa in 1961 where she lived on Davis Island for 44 years. A native of Lansing, MI. Mrs. Mora attended Michigan State University and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Prior to becoming a bridal consultant at Westshore Mall for Maas Brothers, Burdines and Macy's department stores, she was a founding member of the Bethany Presbyterian Day School in Miami, where she grew the student body from four to over 400 hundred students. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church; and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Rodolfo "Rudy" Mora. PEARSON, Mildred B. "Judy", 89, formerly of Hamilton, OH, passed away Nov. 10, 2012. She was the daughter of John and Barbara Schlenk of Hamilton, OH. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1941. Judy married Ralph L. Pearson, also of Hamilton, on Jan. 19, 1943, in Chandler, Arizona where Ralph was stationed in the military. While raising her children, Judy was the typical stay-at-home mom. She was a member of the PTA, prominent in the boy's Little League Baseball activities, an active member in the First Methodist Church of Hamilton & the Elk's Lodge. After moving to Florida in 1981, Judy became an avid golfer and was a member of the ladies league at the Seminole Lake Country Club. She also belonged to the Sunshine State Golf Association. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Ralph; her son, Dennis and wife, Kay of Evanston, IL; and grandsons, Ryan of Brooklyn, NY, & David of Arlington, VA. PRIBBLE, Clarada C. respected Duplicate Bridge Director in St. Petersburg for 40 years passed away on Nov. 11, 2012. Clarada rode horses, was an expert marksman, helped many people and animals, loved to travel, and had a passion for playing duplicate bridge. RAFAL, Bevalan Cohen 83, passed away on Nov. 15, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born in the Berkley section of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Anna Cohen. She was a founding member of Temple Israel in Norfolk, VA., and was recently a member of B'nai Israel in St. Petersburg. She volunteered at Menorah Manor Nursing Home in St. Petersburg. She and her husband owned and operated Mr. Dog Restaurants in downtown Norfolk for many years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Mischa Rafal. SAMMETINGER, Reverend Carl Arnold 86, of Seminole, passed away Nov. 15, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Michael and Frieda Louise (Berner/Eggers) Sammetinger; two brothers, Frederick and Paul and three sisters, Helene Bauer, Gertrude Hartman, and Esther Andersen. He is survived by Ruth Ann (Kueker) Sammetinger, his wife of 61 years; his sister, Flora Schafenacker (James) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his son, Timothy Sammetinger (Lynn); his daughters, Lisa Schillinger (James) of St. Petersburg, Kathy Schaaf (Robert) and Janice Goedecke (Gary) of Fort Myers, Lois Whitley (William) of Palm Harbor, and Miriam Bredesen (Thomas) of Three Lakes, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren and spouses; and many nieces and nephews. His true joy in life was the planting of mission congregations for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, pastoring churches in Key West, FL; Lewiston, NY; Merritt Island, Miami and Clearwater. Even in death he continues to witness to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ through the message, scriptures, and hymns he chose for his memorial service. Carl was an athlete, playing basketball through seminary years. He later loved tennis, golf, and fishing. He and Ruth enjoyed hiking in the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, and through the Pinellas county parks. Not a day went by without competitively playing cards or board games with family and friends. "Sammy" was always the prankster and had a wonderful sense of humor. TUOHY, Kathleen "Kay" Kay Tuohy passed away at age 100, in Viera, FL, on Wednesday Nov. 14, 2012. She was born in County Mayo, Ireland and was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Michael in 1999. They had been married for 62 years. YOUNG, Mickey M. 66, of Homosassa, passed away on Nov. 14, 2012, at his home. A native of Clearwater, he was born Jan. 17, 1946, to Victor and Dorothy (Carr) Young. Mickey wore many hats during his lifetime, though it was not long enough. His life was cut way too short. He did commercial fishing with his father for a number of years and also helped him in his licensed painting business. He even helped him paint the Belleview Biltmore in Clearwater. He was also a ditch digger, concrete block layer, construction worker, bookkeeper, commercial fisherman and crabber. He and his wife of 36 years also owned a retail mom and pop grocery/deli store called Combo Carry Out in Ozona, FL. He also owned his own shrimp boat for a number of years and had a retail bait and tackle store and wholesale supplies for bait stores from Ruskin to Steinahatchee, FL. He did not want to depend on Mother Nature for his living anymore, so he and his wife Melody decided to drive an 18-wheel truck for a living that lasted for 10 years. They drove as a team for Werner Trucking. When Mickey could no longer drive a truck due to his health, he retired and worked around their home in Homosassa, FL. He took care of the house, did the shopping, cleaning and all the cooking so his wife could go to school to become an RN. She now works for Hospice of Citrus County in Homosassa, FL. Mickey leaves behind his wife, Melody; two daughters, Vicki Moore and husband Gary of St. Petersburg; Carri McIver and husband Mikey and their two children Connor and Hannah, of Keller, TX, and many cousins from Citrus County including Ed, Evelyn and Ruth Ann Brannen of Dunnellon, FL; Tex (Ruben) Beales of Dunnellon, FL and many, many others. His family was his life and he will be greatly missed by all.
