TALLAHASSEE - Another Florida State rout exposed more flaws than strengths to coach Sue Semrau.
Forward Natasha Howard had 23 points off the bench to lead FSU to its third straight blowout victory, 76-44 over Stetson on Sunday at the Tucker Center.
The Seminoles (3-0) have opened with three victories of 20 points or more for the first time, following a 77-42 win over Samford and a 98-67 victory over Florida on Thursday. They have won three in a row overall for the first time since a three-game winning streak from Dec. 4-19, 2011.
Led by Howard and Chelsea Davis, who scored 22, the Seminoles outscored the Hatters 50-18 in the paint and outrebounded them 46-29. FSU also held reigning Atlantic Sun player of the year Victoria McGowan to two free throws and 0-of-10 shooting from the field.
Yet Semrau said her team still has some work to do.
"I wasn't real pleased with our effort (Sunday), and I knew it would be a trap game," Semrau said. "I knew coming off a big win over our rivals that it would be tough.
"But I'm really proud of these two (Natasha Howard and Chasity Clayton). I think that they did everything that we needed them to do."
Clayton had 10 rebounds and two steals, and Howard had nine boards and three steals for the third straight game. Leonor Rodriguez had 11 points, five rebounds and three steals.
