For the past two years, it was starting to look like the music at A Taste of Pinellas was finally coming alive. In 2011 and 2012, organizers for the annual chowdown/hoedown booked acts like Sheryl Crow, Colbie Caillat, Dashboard Confessional, Third Eye Blind, Bonnie Raitt, Chris Isaak, All-American Rejects and Ziggy Marley.
Don't expect anything like that next year, though. In fact, don't expect anything, period.
Organizers announced Friday that after 26 yaers, A Taste of Pinellas is going on hiatus for 2013.
"While A Taste of Pinellas has enjoyed great success, we have also experienced a decline in overall attendance and an increase in expenses to run this three-day event," Cindy Rose, All Children's Hospital's Vice President of Marketing, said in a statement. "Today, there are many more community events and entertainment venues competing for the public's time and money. We felt it was a good time to take a strategic look at all facets of the event to see if we can make it better for the future."
