A 43-year-old man was arrested this week on charges of having a three-year sexual relationship with a girl, whom he impregnated when she was 14.
The girl, now 15, had the baby in December.
She told deputies that Steven Phillip Ballow used to be her neighbor, and he became "infatuated" with her, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. Ballow called her "the love of his life" and the two began having sex when the girl was 12, the report said.
She knew the relationship was wrong and tried to end it, the report said, but Ballow would threaten to kill himself.
Then, in March 2012, she became pregnant. Ballow fled to Knox County, Tenn., where authorities apprehended him on Tuesday. He admitted having sex with the girl at his home, the report said.
Ballow, a Port Richey resident, was charged with lewd and lascivious battery and aggravated stalking of a child under 16. He was brought to the Land O'Lakes jail, where he remained Wednesday in lieu of $20,000 bail.
