OBITUARIES

ADAMS, Marjorie Mae DeGrow Marge was born June 12, 1931 in Bad Axe, MI, and died April 22, 2013, in Largo. She attended Pigeon High School and Central Michigan University and graduated from the University of Florida. She taught physical education and was a guidance counselor at Tarpon Springs High School for many years during which she earned two master's degrees from Columbia University. She finished her career as Chairman of the Guidance Department of Pinellas Vocational Technical Institute (PTEC). She enjoyed retirement with her late husband, Carl Bryant Adams Sr., as they traveled the country in their motor home remodeling one home at a time. Marge's passion was teaching and helping others. Her impact was felt by many. Her smiles, laughter and sense of humor were infectious. Her children are, Carolyn L. Pope of Englewood, Teri Johnson of Clearwater, (Jim) and Carl Adams Jr. of Flower Mound, TX. She leaves three brothers, Alvin DeGrow (Kay) of Leesburg, Douglas DeGrow (Katherine) of Dallas, TX, and Terry DeGrow (Gloria) of Seattle, WA. Marge leaves behind six beloved grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews along with many, many close friends. CLEGG, Jack H. of Port Richey, died April 20, 2013. He passed away of natural causes at home surrounded by family, and under the care of hospice. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Midge, in 2011. Jack was a tool and dye maker for General Motors for 30 years in Marion, IN. He served in the Navy in WWII, and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Eagles. COBB, Menty Elois "Peggy" 84, passed away April 23, 2013. She was a member of Bell Shoals Church of Christ. Peggy loved crafts, gardening and watching Dr. Phil. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Willie Alton Cobb; son, Robert; and two brothers and one sister. DAVIS, Ann "Honey" 86, of Tarpon Springs, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Ann was born on May 7, 1926 in Rochester, NY, to Serafino DiMambro and Mary Toscano DiMambro. Upon gra-duation from Madison High School, she began her career as a secretary. Ann soon met her future husband, Otis Davis, a baseball player for the Rochester Red wings. They were married in 1946. After her retirement from the Rochester office of the U.S. Government Contract Services Dept., she and Otis moved to Clearwater. They enjoyed the next 25 years living near their son, Otis Jr. and his family. Ann is survived by her son, Otis; two sisters, Antoinette Chiz and Nancy DiTucci, both of Fairport, NY; and her two granddaughters, Tiffany Davis of Orlando and Krystal Davis of Washington, D.C. HEYE, Harold F. prominent local business man, passed away on April 22, 2013, in Clearwater, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Heye was born in Dusseldorf, Germany son of Margarete and Hans Heye. His family later moved to the Hague. Mr. Heye attended St George's and St John's Military Academies. He was a member of the armed forces in World War II and proudly served in the Pacific Theatre on Kwajalein and the initial assault on Leyte Island and Okinawa. He attended Babson College in Wellesley, MA and the Wharton School of Business. Mr. Heye served on the Boards of Morton Plant Hospital, Gerresheimer Factories and subsidiaries in Germany and Holland as well as Ruth Eckerd Hall, The First National Bank of Clearwater and Carlouel Yacht Club. He was a Director and co-owner of the High and Dry Marina, Island Yacht Harbor and Pier 60 in Clearwater. He was also a part of the original team of developers for Island Estates and one of the original benefactors of Ruth Eckerd Hall. Mr. Heye who resided in Belleair and Dorset, VT was a long standing member of the Belleair Country Club, Carlouel Yacht Club, was a member of the Rotary Club, Privateers Men's Club and Ekwanok Club of Manchester, VT. Mr. Heye is survived by his loving wife, Diane Gerlach Heye; and children, Deborah Neal, Rick Heye, Christopher Heye & Kingsley Gerlach III, Mary Gerlach Hickok, John Gerlach, Stephen Gerlach; and twelve cherished grandchildren. LADD, Virginia Lee 92, of New Port Richey, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013. She was born in Ironton, OH to Harry Schweninger and Inez Brumfield. She was the credit manager for the Contra Costa Times in Walnut Creek, CA, where she was employed for 43 years. Virginia moved to Florida ten years ago from California to be near those she loved. LENFESTEY, Hon. James Albaugh "Jim" 94, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2013 with family members at his side. Longtime Circuit Court judge, U.S. Army Colonel, accomplished mediator, professor of constitutional and business law, Sunday School teacher, and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed a distinguished career that spanned a lifetime. A second-generation Tampa native, he was born into one of Tampa's pioneer families, and attended Gorrie Elementary, Wilson Junior High and Plant High School. He received his B.A. degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Law, where he became a member of Phi Delta Phi, an international legal honorary society. After 16 years of general law practice in Tampa with the firm he established, he was elected to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court in 1966 following a hotly contested three-way race, and served for 24 years on the bench before "retiring" to pursue more than a decade of active service as a mediator. During his tenure as a Circuit Judge, he was elected Chairman of the Florida Circuit Judges' Conference and served two terms as Chief Judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. He received the Robert W. Patton Outstanding Jurist Award from the Hillsborough County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and, after 10 years on the bench, was pleased to receive the highest approval rating of any judge in a Hillsborough County Bar Association lawyer opinion survey. For many years, his favorite "hobby" was teaching college classes in business and constitutional law at USF, University of Tampa, HCC and other local campuses. He was a veteran of World War II and attained the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He served for years as a member of the Ft. Stewart/Hunter Army Air Field Retiree Council. Judge Lenfestey led and was active in a variety of legal professional, civic and charitable organizations and endeavors, and he and his wife and parents were faithful members of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon, an Elder and taught an adult Sunday School class for decades. Known for his wisdom, wit, work ethic, courtesy and interest in others, he was a mentor to, and was beloved by, many throughout his lifetime. Judge Lenfestey was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Laurel White Norden Lenfestey; father, Harold B. Lenfestey; mother, Iva Idella Albaugh Lenfestey; and sister, Anna Florence Lenfestey. Survivors include daughter, Laurel Jean Lenfestey Grammig (Bob); grandchildren, James, Clare, Julia and Grace Grammig, brother Dr. Frederick T. LEWIS, Lorraine LeClair (Conley), 93, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully April 14, 2013 at her home under the care of hospice and her daughter, Janice. She was born Aug. 2, 1919 in Salem, MA, to the late Alfred and Yvonne LeClair. She was married to Roger Conley who is the father of her children and then to Gaspar J. Lewis Jr., her soulmate, both pre- deceased her along with her 2 sisters, Rita Nadeace and Marjorie Leonard; 2 brothers, Robert and Norman LeClair. She enjoyed many years of cruising, RV travel, and sailing. She loved to dance and will be remembered for her straight forward wit, humor, and contagious smile. MANELLI, Olan Nick 57, of Lutz, passed away on April 22, 2013. ROMAN, Conrad 70, of Tampa, passed away on April 20, 2013. He was born in New York City in 1942, & was a Golden Gloves boxer in Las Vegas at age 18. He entered the Army in 1961, and served in Japan. Conrad played baseball in the Armed Forces, and after the Army, played in the minor leagues for the Kansas City Athletics. He lived most of his life in New York City, and worked as an alarm technician for twenty years, before moving to Tampa in 1983.
