Lakewood forward Tianah Alvarado has committed to Mississippi. Alvarado, who helped lead the Spartans to the Class 5A state final, visited the school Sunday through Tuesday. "It feels good to get the decision made," she said. "I just felt very comfortable there. Coach (Matt Insell) turned around Kentucky, and I know he can do it at Mississippi. He told me I would have a chance to play right away. Not start, but play. I can't wait to get back there." Alvarado originally signed with Seton Hall but was given a release from her scholarship when coach Anne Donovan left for the WNBA. Mississippi was the first school Alvarado visited since her release. The four-year starter for the Spartans averaged 19.5 points as a senior. She scored 39 in the Pinellas vs. Hillsborough senior All-Star game.
