Rick Anderton will not return as Zephyrhillsbaseball coach, the school said Monday morning.

"We are looking to go in a different direction," athletic director Bruce Cimorelli said in an email.

Zephyrhills finished 6-18 this spring and lost to Ridgewood in the first round of the district tournament.

The coaching position is expected to be posted on the district's website soon.

Anclote's Walsh signs with PHCC

Anclote guard/forward Dylan Walsh signed to play basketball at PHCC during a ceremony at the school.

The 6-foot-3 senior captained the Sharks and led them to their first playoff appearance.

Walsh averaged 8.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 steals as one of the central figures in a balanced lineup. He was a Tampa Bay Times' all-North Suncoast honorable mention.

A few other recruiting tidbits from the North Suncoast:

- Anclote lineman Josh Parsons has orally committed to Webber International, he announced via Twitter over the weekend. Parsons, a 6-foot, 235-pound two-way lineman, racked up 52 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble during his senior season. He also had four pancake blocks on offense.

- Springstead lineman Ethan Kemp has orally committed to Springfield (Mass.) College. Kemp received Division II interest but chose to head to the D-III program in New England, where he is from and has family. The 5-foot-11, 278-pound senior was an integral part of the powerful ground game that helped Springstead win its first district title since 1996.

- Bishop McLaughlin sophomore Alyssa Mathis has already picked up two offers in volleyball: Wake Forest and San Diego State, Hurricanes coach Doug Chinchar said in an email.

Mathis, a 6-foot outside hitter and first-team all-North Suncoast selection, recently visited San Diego State and Tennessee.

- Hernando OL Connor Foradas attended junior days at FIU and FAU and is also receiving interest from Middle Tennessee State. The Blue Raiders have also shown interest in Anclote RB Willie Barrett and K CJ Peppe.
