BEASTIE BOYS WRITING MEMOIR

Gen Xers still thumbing through well-worn copies of Jay-Z's book Decoded should clear off their coffee tables; Beastie Boys members Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz have decided to publish a memoir. We're hoping for lots of stories about the late Adam Yauch. While the pair themselves didn't comment, their agent Luke Janklow told the New York Times the surviving members decided it needed to be done after Yauch's death from cancer last year. "After Yauch died, I didn't push them, but I think that Adam and Mike ended up realizing that it was the right time for them," Janklow said. Publisher Julie Grau says the book won't be the typical, staid memoir, because Mike D and Ad-Rock are "interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience." That means it's going to take a lot of editing before it's released in fall 2015.

'FNL', the movie?

While all of you Kickstarter fans are awaiting your Veronica Mars movie, Nashville star Connie Britton wants everyone to know she's totally on board with Friday Night Lights getting the big-screen treatment. Not that it's a thing, you know, just that hey, maybe she'd be in it. "I would love it to happen. I'm a big supporter of it happening. I don't know if we will see it or not," she told E! at the White House Correspondents' dinner Saturday. "I know it was being written and (director) Peter Berg is really serious about it so I think if everybody got on board, I don't see why we couldn't have a movie." Deadline has reported Berg is also working on a movie about hockey player Derek Boogaard, who died at 28 from mixing alcohol with the pain pills he was addicted to from fighting in the NHL so much.

Aldean, wife splitting

For anyone out there keeping notes, it's pretty hard to stay married when you cheat on your spouse. Someone who knows that is country singer Jason Aldean, who is divorcing his wife of 11 years. Aldean and Jessica Ussery, who have two kids together, filed in Tennessee on Friday, TMZ reports. That's when he announced he and his wife were separating and his rep said they were "having problems." That's pretty obvious, because he was caught smooching American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr in L.A. back in September. The pair tried to make it work, but when you're out kissing reality show contestants, you can pretty much sign the closing papers on that split.
