BARNES, Hazel Fayrene age 88, of Riverview, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Friday morning, April 26, 2013. She was born at home in Gravel Hill, AK, on July 15, 1924. She came to the Tampa Bay area with the love of her life, career Air Force Master Sergeant James Joseph, who passed away in 2003. She enjoyed a life full of art, literature & beauty while simultaneously a success in business. She was a prolific painter, published author, seamstress and at one time juggled a family, a chain of three Cut N' Curl Beauty Salons and a beauty and barber supply company. She had two children, Gerri Sandra who passed away in 1988; and is survived by her son, James Douglas (wife, Kim); grandson, Mark; and great-grand-children, Bryson and Peyton. Hazel was one of six children, three boys and three girls born to John Clarence Hughes and Lanta Mae Vardell. She is survived by an older sister, Myrtle Lee in Searcy, AK. CLARK, Dorothy D. age 93, of Clearwater was born into eternal life on April 24, 2013 in Englewood, FL. Born in Brooklyn, NY Sept. 6, 1919 to John H. and Anne B. Desmond. Dorothy came to Clearwater in 1946 where she worked in her chosen profession of nursing. She also worked in the office of St. Cecelia Catholic Church for many years prior to retirement in 1981. One of her greatest pleasures was the sand and surf of her beloved Clearwater Beach. Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Kathryn G. Desmond of East Hampton, NY and her brother, Jack Desmond of Norwalk, CT and Stuart, FL. Dorothy is survived by her brother, James B. Desmond (Sandy) of Alpharetta, GA; and her three children, Judith-Anne Brown (Buddy) of Englewood, Buddy Caulfield of Belleair Bluffs and Katherine D. Armitage (Russell) of Palm Harbor. DIMAS, Roy H. 59, of Plant City, FL, died April 25, 2013, at South Florida Baptist Hospital. Born March 29, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Manuel Dimas and the late Pauline Hernandez Dimas. He was the husband of Francisca Dimas. GARVERICH, Richard O. age 96, of Clearwater, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Emeritus of Clearwater. Richard was born on Sept. 28, 1916 in Harrisburg, PA. After high school, he played major league baseball with the Farm Club. He worked on the railroad as a fireman during WWII, then he had a 40 year career with the Kinney Shoe Company starting in the warehouse and working his way up to the Director of Distribution. His greatest joy was his grandchildren & great-grand-children. Richard moved to this area in 1980, coming from Shiremanstown, PA. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty; and a brother. HECHT, Betty Leon Maynard beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, age 95, of Clearwater, passed away from complications after a stroke on April 26, 2013. She moved here in 1963 from her native Nanticoke, PA. Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Fred. HIBBARD, Robert E. "Bob" age 73, of Sun City Center, passed away on April 25, 2013. He retired after 34 years of service with Massachusetts Electric and was a member of the Elks Lodge of Ruskin, and the Sun City Center and Kings Point Amateur Radio Club with the call sign N1ZK. His hobbies also included remote control airplanes, karaoke and photography. LAKY, Michael Charles age 92, passed away at his Bon Secours Place on April 27, 2013. Mike was born in Philadelphia, PA. At the end of Second World War, he enlisted in the United States Army, Mike returned to Philadelphia and fell in love with Edna Laky, his wife of 56 years. They raised three daughters and a son, while operating Laky's Restaurant in Philadelphia until retirement in 1983. They relocated to St Petersburg in 2001. Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, warm smile and gentleness to all who he met. Michael C. McDOUGAL, Ernie Nathaniel "Papa Ernie" 72, of Pinellas Park, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, surrounded by his wife & family at Bayfront Hospice. He was born in Haywood, OK, and he came here in 1979 from Hagerstown, MD, where he worked for Mack Trucks. Locally, he retired from Southern Tool and Machine Company in 2006. Ernie was an Air Force veteran with a passion for classic Mustangs, movies, building model airplanes, scuba diving and his dogs. He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Byrtie McDougal. MOORE, Howard C. Jr. (known to his family & friends as Butch), 68, of Brandon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. He was born on Aug. 9, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to the late Howard Sr. and Maria. Howard was predeceased by his devoted wife, Wanda. Howard was in the United States Air Force and ended his Air Force career as a Senior Master Sergeant E8. After the Air Force, Howard worked at NOAA as a Flight Engineer / Hurricane Hunter for the Hurricane Center. Survivors include his daughters, Stacy Allison and Melissa Moore; sons, Bryan Moore (Rachel) & Christopher Scholen; sisters, Joyce O'Donnell and Jean M. Vidotto; 7 grandchildren, Katelynn Allison, Daisy McKamey and John Earnest, Chelsea Dietrich (Charles), Cody Moore, Hunter Moore, and Haden Moore; great-grandson, Michael McKamey. When Howard wasn't working he spent time working in his yard, barbequing, and spending time with his family. Howard was a devoted father who spent his whole life making sure his family was taken care of to the day he passed away. MORAN, Edward of Belleair, passed away on April 27, 2013, in Clearwater. Born on Sept. 24, 1922 in Brookline, MA, Mr. Moran attended Brookline High School, Boston University and graduated from Holy Cross College, Class of 1949. He was a two-sport division-one college athlete in hockey and baseball and an avid golfer throughout his life. He was a member of the Armed Forces in WWII, proudly serving in the Battle of the Bulge. Professionally, Mr. Moran was an executive in the maritime industry, working at St. Philip Towing, Inc. and later Seabulk Towing, Inc., both in Tampa. He was a member of the Belleair Country Club, Carlouel Yacht Club, and the University Club of Tampa. Mr. Moran, a resident of Belleair since 1959, served as a commissioner from 1978 to 1986 and as Mayor from 1988 to 1993. Son of the late Thomas and Katherine (Lacey) Moran of Brookline, MA; brother of the late Patricia Driscoll of Plymouth, MA and the late Mary Hall of Sebago Lake, ME, he was the loving husband of Betty Moran (Girard); loving father of Shelley Moran and husband, Adam Stock of San Francisco, CA; Wendy Moran of Boston, MA; and Peter Moran and wife, Janet Moran (Thompson) of Monson, MA; and loving grandfather of Trevor, Molly, and Emily Moran, all of Monson, MA. PARRILLA, Brian 28, of Temple Terrace, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Tampa General Hospital. He was born on Feb. 8, 1985 in New York, NY, USA, to his parents, Angel L. Parrilla & Anna J. Diaz. Brian was the youngest of 2 children. He married Frances M. Gonzalez in Tennessee on Feb. 2, 2008. He attended Southwest Florida College and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He served in the Army for 6 years, a veteran of OIF and OEF. He was employed by Homeland Intelligence Technology as a Contractor. Brian was a member of Cypress Point Community Church. He enjoyed Martial Arts & physical fitness. Brian will be remembered by his loving wife, Frances. He is also survived by his father, Angel Luis Parrilla and mother Anna J. SOLOSKY, Kim Kathleen born Dec. 11, 1957, to Myra Moore & Ethan Solosky, now deceased, died unexpectedly on April 25, 2013, due to complications from cancer. Kim graduated form Midland High School in 1976, and received a BA from Saginaw Valley State University in 1986. In 1988, Kim decided she had enough of Michigan winters and moved to Tampa, where she resided until her death. She loved going to the beach, 90 degree weather, and driving her Miata with the top down. Kim did accounting & property management for various types of businesses including office spaces, apartments, townhouses, and trailer parks. Kim was a loving daughter, stepdaughter, sister, and friend, and will be sadly missed. Memorial services are pending.

TINKER, Ruby Maidie Stanton, born June 5, 1921, in London, England, immigrated to U.S. with her family June 1926, and celebrated her 5th Birthday crossing the Atlantic at the Captain's table. She became a U.S. citizen, and lived in New Jersey until she was 13 years old. She enjoyed life on boardwalks. The family moved to St. Petersburg in 1934, graduated from St. Petersburg High in 1939. She became a well known piano teacher in the area. She married at 35 to Gerald (Tim) Tinker of Tampa Sept. 15, 1956 (Tim was son of Major Gen. C.L. Tinker of Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City). She moved to Bonita, CA, in 1967. Ruby continued teaching piano, until she retired at 88, after 70 years of teaching. She enjoyed stamp collecting, traveling with family, building & managing homes, classical music, piano playing & teaching. Ruby led a full life, saw the world, has many friends, married for 47 years, raised 4 children, many dogs she loved. Best of all, Ruby is a Christian now in heaven. Survived by children, Phillip, Andrew, David, Pamela; also daughters-in-law, Dawn and Holly; son-in-law, Bruce; grandchildren, Amanda, Luke, Ariana, Jeremiah, Josephine. We love you Mum "Nana".
