PRICE HONORED

Published May 1, 2013

Rays LHP David Price was "absolutely" honored to receive the Wilber "Bullet" Rogan Award as the AL's top 2012 pitcher and get a personal tour of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, shown here in front of the Satchel Paige statue and with museum president Bob Kendrick. "It was very cool," Price said.

Weather, or not

The Rays are in for a significant change in weather - including a drop of 40 degrees. Tuesday's high was in the low 80s, but after heavy rain today, the forecast for Thursday is a high of 42, low of 33 and rain turning to SNOW! "How can it go from being this hot in two days to snow," C Jose Lobaton asked. The Royals already canceled a planned Kids Day event for Thursday.

Quote of the day

"I'm good to go. I haven't gone all out trying to run like I was running away from a grizzly bear or something."

Rays at Royals

When/where: 8:10 tonight; Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City

TV/radio: Sun Sports; 620-AM, 680-AM (Spanish)

Probable pitchers

Rays: RH Jeremy Hellickson (1-2, 4.31)

ROYALS: RH Luis Mendoza (0-1, 5.14)

Helly nation: Hellickson makes his first start in K.C., with 50-plus friends/relatives coming from his Iowa hometown. He struggled early Thursday at Chicago, which is an issue: eight of his 15 runs have been allowed in first innings.

Mendoza line: Last start was April 12, worked in relief April 24. Control seems to be an issue, as he has allowed 10 hits and nine walks in 14 innings. Lost to Rays in August.
