BELAJONAS, Genaro John Sr., age 42, of Brandon, passed away on Oct. 9, 2013. He was born on Sept. 18, 1971 in Staten Island, NY. He is survived by his father, Frank Belajonas; his mother and stepfather, Carmella and Paul Inchierchiera; his children, Genaro Belajonas Jr. and Nicholas Belajonas; his brothers, Frank Belajonas Jr. & Norman Brown Jr.; sister, Michelle Belajonas; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces. Genaro loved spending time with and making his family and friends laugh. As a mechanic he loved working on cars. He also loved fishing, collecting, and going to yard sales. In Oct. of 2012, Genaro rescued 12 people from their home when Super Storm Sandy struck Staten Island, NY. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. BELL, Douglas A. 63, of Tampa, passed away on Oct. 8, 2013. Douglas volunteered with the youth mentoring program Big Brothers Big Sisters. He was an avid golfer and loved to play cards with his many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Bell; and by his wife, Marilyn Bell, who he cared for during her long battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Letetia Bell; brother, Byron Bell (Jessica); sister, Betsey Sharp (Barry); niece, Stephanie Goff (Blain) and nephew, Bradley Sharp. BERMAN, Jules died peacefully Oct. 5, 2013, at his home in Silver Spring, MD. Born Sept. 11, 1910, in Chicago, raised in Rochester, NY, he had a long and distinguished career at the U.S. Department of Health Education and Welfare where he played a key role in the initial creation and launch of Medicare and Medicaid and the early revisions and expansion of Social Security. Jules often represented HEW at Congressional hearings and briefings during the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations. He had a second rewarding career at the University of Maryland as Emeritus Associate Professor in its School of Social Work & Community Planning. He was beloved as much for his warmth & compassionate interest in those around him as for his intelligence and his range of interests. Jules was the devoted husband of the late, Susan Berman; and he is survived by his children, Robert of St. Petersburg, Elinore Shafer of Fairfield, CT, and Jeremy of New York City; as well as seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Jules' kindness to others was returned to him and his family wishes to thank the especially caring staff and residents at Bedford Court in Silver Springs where he lived for nearly ten years & the resourceful team of caregivers who assisted him in his final days.

BISHOP, Theresa Lynn (Juncal) "Terry", 57, a life long resident of Tampa Bay, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013. She was born Aug. 2, 1956 in Tampa to the late Rene Juncal and Mary Louise Juncal-Owens. She was prede-ceased by her sister, Elizabeth Gail Castelow and her brother-in-law, Norman Troy Castelow. Survivors include her devoted son, Jason Matthew Bishop; her brother, Michael Rene Juncal & wife, Martha; sister, Michelle Renee Juncal; a loving extended family and circle of friends. BUCKMAN, C. Richard "Dick", 79, of Palm Harbor, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan; son, Jeffrey Richard Buckman and his wife Beth of Warren, VT; daughter, Lori Buckman Vonachen and her husband Bill of Fram-ingham, MA; 3 grandchildren, Colby, Caroline and Mitch Vonachen; 2 brothers, David Buckman and his wife Leigh of Gilford, NH and Don Buckman and his wife Elaine of Clayton, NC; and a sister, Marsha Wilder of Manchester, NH. Dick enjoyed many activities throughout his life. He was an avid New England sports fan and relished watching the Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox. His competitive spirit led him to also participate in many sports, including golf, skiing, basketball, and was known as an 'ace' tennis player. Dick has a special affinity with animals and always had his beloved 'Bruno' by his side. Mostly, he will be remembered for his devilish sense of humor that brought endless fun and laughter to our lives. COCCIOLONE, Catherine Frances "Cathi", age 49, of Largo, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. She was born in Detroit, MI, to Caroline and the late Theodore Jackowski Jr. She graduated from Tampa Tech and received an Associate's degree in arts. She loved the arts and was a custom framer of fine arts. She had a love for adventure. She enjoyed horses, mountain biking, rock climbing, scuba diving and had a passion for diving for fossils. She had a kind and open heart to everyone she met. Her quest was to travel and explore the world. She loved the Buccaneers "Go Bucs! Woohoo!" and the Rays.She is survived by her husband, Chris; her mother, Caroline and family, Dale, Keith, Sue,Jeff, Mary, Eric, Brian, Shane, Casey, Aaron, Amy, Lynda;her beloved pets; and too many family and friends she loved dearly to name. JOHNSON, Cheri Lee Smith, Jackson Cable, passed peacefully at home on Oct. 5, 2013, and went into a better place. LEGER, Despina Karamanides 90, of St. Petersburg, died on Oct. 9, 2013. She held three Master's degrees, and had a career as a teacher. MARCOTT, Richard W. 82, of St Petersburg, formerly from Carthage, NY, passed away on Oct. 7, 2013. He was a 38 year Air Force veteran, serving from the Korean War through Operation Desert Storm. He retired from the Carthage Post Office in 1991. He was a member of Am Leg Post 125, Gulfport, prev. Past Com of Am Leg Post 673, Black River, NY, and a life member of Carthage VFW Post 7227. He was a charter member of Carthage Area Rescue Squad. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Campbell) Mar-cott; a daughter, Jackie Whitener; granddaughters, Cierra Whitener, Melissa Stuffle-street; a sister, Betty McLean; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce; sons, John and Robert; a stepson, Chris Stufflestreet; a sister, Helen Davis; and a brother, Donald. MELLO, Lawrence V. "Larry", 88, of Largo, died on Oct. 9, 2013. Larry was born in New Bedford, MA, and moved to Largo in 1964 from Minnneapolis, MN. He retired as Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force after serving as a pilot in the Army Air Corp during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Before retiring in 1988, he was a mechanical engineer for Honeywell. As a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Larry served as Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Holy Name Society, a member of the Ministry of Presence, and Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Msgr. McCall Council #4892. He was a member of the American Legion Post #119, Largo and the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen; his children, Lawrence "Lance" (Vicky), of Dunedin, Shawn, Largo, Kevin (Kimberly) of Clearwater, and Maureen (Gregory) McMillan, of Rams-tein, Germany; grandchildren, Meghan Murphy, Molly McMi-llan, Gregory McMillan Jr. & Gavin McMillan; his great-granddaughter, Sarah Murphy; and sister, Loretta (Joseph) Simon, Glenmont, NY. POFFENBERGER, Virginia Joy age 78, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013. Born in Perry, IA, the daughter of Charles and Loraine Joy, Ginny graduated from Perry High School in 1953 and earned her Bachelor degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University in 1957. She married Richard Lee Poffenberger in June 1957, and they raised three children. While her kids were in high school, Ginny returned to Drake University to earn her law degree, then became partner in the family law practice in Perry. Ginny also served two terms as Iowa State Representative (1979-1983). She enjoyed a full life in Perry where she was a member of many organizations, both professional and social, until she and Dick retired to Tierra Verde, FL, in 1999. Ginny continued to be an active community member in her retired life with her involvement as board member in her condo association as well as membership in both St. Petersburg Methodist churches, P.E.O., St. Petersburg Yacht Club, and the Dolphin Sailing Club. Virginia is survived by her two brothers, Bill (Connie) and Jim; her three children, Liz, Tom (Gail), and Jim (Margaret); and her four granddaughters. Memorial service will take place at 1 pm, on Saturday, Oct. 12th, at Christ United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg. PRATTEN, Rose Labez was born into this earthly life Oct. 18, 1925 on the isle of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands. Then on Oct. 1, 2013, the beloved wife of Glenn Pratten, entered into the Kingdom of God's eternal Life through her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. Rose now truly knows and rejoices in the Perfect Love and Peace of her Creator, but on this earth, Rose will be missed greatly by her husband, Glenn; and her living children, Ronald Dacay, Leonard Dacay, Stella Tomita, Rosarie Kelekoma and Jed Dacay. A son, Eric Dacay, is predeceased. Rose and her beautiful smile was always in the forefront at Nature's Finest Food, a natural food grocery mart in St. Petersburg, that she and her husband established in 1972. SICKELS, Vera Ann 83, of Ruskin, went to be with the Lord Oct. 10, 2013. She was born in Silver Creek, IA, Jan. 17, 1930. She married Kennith E. Sickels in 1948 and moved to Ruskin in 1969. She was preceeded in death by her husband; parents, T. Wesley and Clara Carrothers; her brother, Earl M. Carrothers; a grandson, Eric M. Sickels; and a grand-nephew, Jordan Parm-ely. She is survived by four children, Stephen W. (Cristine) Sickels, Kennith E. (Deb) Sick-els Jr., Carol L. (Keith Powers) Baxley, Belinda M. (Robert Dirmyer) Yutesler; and her bro-ther, Donald D. She was actively involved in the Ruskin United Methodist Church and a devoted volun-teer to many organizations including many years in the Silver Haired Legislature, Ruskin Garden Club, Ruskin Women's Club, Elks, Lions Club, Eastern Star, and the Rebekah Lodge. WIERZBICKI, Mary Katheryne Zankowski Mom went to heaven on the wings of angels Oct. 2, 2013, in the home of her eldest daughter Josephine Barnes. She was 97 years young. She was born in Syracuse, NY, on May 11, 1916 to Anthony and Marianne Zankowski. She was the youngest of 14 children. Our mom was preceded in death by our dad, Joseph; 13 brothers and sisters; and her grandson, Roger Yager. Those of us who will morn mom are Josephine Barnes, Dorothy Fo-nehouse, Frank Wierzbicki, Janet Walters, Nancy Wier-zbicki and Edward Wierzbicki; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
