Palm Harbor University used its running game to defeat Dunedin 36-7 and spoil the Falcons' homecoming night on Friday.
The Hurricanes (4-2) rushed for 253 yards and four touchdowns, led by quarterback Tyler Kaminski, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries. Anthony Scudiero added two rushing touchdowns while running for 51 yards.
Palm Harbor also had a strong game on the defensive side of the ball, holding the Falcons (1-5) to 148 yards of total offense, and just 55 on the ground. Cory King, Alex Olsen, and Kyle Olsen all had interceptions for PHU. Alex Olsen returned his interception 50 yards for a touchdown.
Dunedin had another miscue when a snap went over the punter's head and out of the end zone for a Palm Harbor safety to give the Hurricanes a 22-0 lead. Stephen Charron added a 1-yard touchdown at the end of the half to give the Falcons a 29-0 lead at the break.
Dunedin managed to get one big play against Palm Harbor's defense, though. Giovani Gonzalez completed a 79-yard pass to Janero Crankfield, who caught the ball after it was tipped by a defender, to set up Kane Taylor's 1-yard touchdown run.
The Falcons' Adarius Sims went down with a neck injury and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. He was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. No other details were available.
