Authorities were investigating a fatal crash between a motorcycle and a Ford Explorer in the Riverview area Saturday evening. The motorcycle struck the Ford at S 78th Street and Riverview Drive just after 7 p.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. The person on the motorcycle died at the scene, according to the Sheriff's Office, while the driver of the Ford was not injured. No other details about the crash were released Saturday evening.

Man, 20, hit and killed by pickup
A Brooksville man died Friday night after he was struck by a truck while walking along Sunshine Grove Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Kevin M. Giddens, 20, was walking south near Sweet Gum Road about 8 p.m. when he was hit by a 2010 Ford E-150 pickup truck driven by Jeffrey B. Zadeh, FHP said. Zadeh, 33, of Spring Hill, had been driving south on Sunshine Grove Road when, FHP said, he failed to see Giddens walking. The front of his truck hit Giddens, who was taken to Bayonet Point Medical Center, FHP said. Giddens later died from his injuries. No charges have been filed. The incident is under investigation.

Firefighters rescue dangling woman
A woman seen dangling from a bridge was rescued Saturday by firefighters after she participated in a cancer walk earlier in the day. The woman, 55, was walking across the New River railroad bridge in Fort Lauderdale when it began to open. Witnesses called 911 to report that the woman was dangling 22 feet above the tracks with the bridge in the upright position, city officials said. Firefighters helped rescue the woman using a 24-foot ladder. She was not injured. It was not clear why she was on the bridge since pedestrians are not allowed on it. The woman wasn't identified.
