BRIDGES, Joan "Jody" G. of Brandon, 80, passed away Oct. 11, 2013. Born April 26, 1933 in Dexter, ME, to the late Jerry and Lily Gallagher. Jody graduated Portland High School, Portland, ME. She worked many years as a legal secretary and in the insurance industry. She was a devout Christian and many will remember her, and her late husband Donald, for their music and their prison ministry. She was predeceased by infant children, Cheryl and Phillip; three brothers, Jerry, Jr., Ralph and John Gallagher; and two sisters, Helen G. Levesque and Carley Jean Gallagher. Survivors include sister, Annie G. Briggs, Plant City and brother, Dan (Caro) Gallagher, Roanoke, VA, and special niece and caregiver, Deborah G. Kobritz, Tampa, along with other nieces and nephews. COOK, Rex A. Age 78, passed away on Oct. 12, 2013, in Tampa. He is survived by Marie, his wife of 55 years; sons, Edward (Belinda) of Georgia, Doug (Shannon) of Tampa; daughter, Laurie (Terry) Morris of Valrico; grandchildren, Brett, Chelsea, Walker and Teagan. He also leaves two brothers, Jack and Gene; sister, Judy and numerous nephews & nieces. Rex was born in Big Creek, MS. After graduating high school in Grenada, MS, Rex enlisted in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. After discharge, Rex began work with Swift & Co. as a truck driver in Greenville, MS working up to become plant superintendent in Lake Charles, LA, Savannah, GA, Jacksonville, Miami & Tampa. Rex was appointed district superintendent of the southwestern states, headquartered in Ft Worth, TX in 1978. After the demise of Swift & Co., Rex retired after 21 years and returned to Tampa to start his second career (19 years) with Florida Power Corp. After retiring, Rex spent many days fishing and at his hobby of woodworking where he created many pieces that will be cherished for years by friends and family, especially grandchildren. Rex belonged to First Baptist Church of Port Tampa and was also a past commander & life member of the American Legion Post 138 in Port Tampa. Visitation will be at the funeral home, 6-8 pm on Monday, Oct. 14, funeral services will be at the funeral home, 10 am on Tuesday, Oct. 15, followed by interment at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. DART, Victoria Rose 46, of Largo, passed in her sleep on Sept. 15, 2013. She leaves behind a son, Mitchell; mother, Genevieve Shea and a very loving family. Memorial to be held at a later date.

DIETZEN, Leonard J. 79, died on Sept. 18, 2013. He was born to Leonard and Mary Dietzen in Chattanooga, TN, on July 9, 1934. He is survived by daughters, Deborah Lard-ieri (Larry), Lisa Hannon (Jay), Donna Baptiste (David); and son Leonard J. Dietzen (Beth); grandchildren Larry Joe Lard-ieri, Shane and Brooke Bapt-iste, and Drew and Lindsey Dietzen; and sister Bucky Appleton. A celebration of life will be held by the family on Oct. 19, 2013.

JOHNSON, Filomena M. 72 of St. Petersburg, died Thursday Oct. 10 at Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg. Born Dec. 23, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Rosario N. and Anna Tumela Rampone. Filomena was a cashier at the Coast Guard Base in St. Petersburg. She was a member of the Goldstar Wives. She married the late Thomas Henry on Aug. 5, 1989; he died July 20, 2003. Filomena is survived by her sons, Parish J. Wert of St. Petersburg and William J. Wert of Largo; sister, Maryanne Neefe of St. Petersburg; granddaughter Cortney Wert of Largo; nephews, JR Neefe and Rick Neefe of St. Petersburg. LANGMAACK, Bernice A. 88, of Tampa, passed away on Oct. 12, 2013. She was born in Somerville, MA and moved to Tampa in 1985 from Fairport, NY. She was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church. Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Charles J. Langmaack; children, Kathleen Martens, MaryJo O'Donovan, Jack Langmaack, Carol Brown, and Robert Langmaack; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grand-children; a sister, Helen Plant; two brothers, Jack Coyne and Richard Coyne. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Callahan and four siblings, Florence Arena, Francis Coyne, Dorothy Coyne, and Michael Coyne. The family will be attending a Mass, acknowledging Bernice's memory at 8:30 am, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at Incarnation Catholic Church. RUSSO, Jeffrey Paul 47, of Tampa, passed away peacefully Oct. 11, 2013. Jeff lived in Tampa all of his life. He went to St. Joseph's School and graduated from Jesuit High School in 1984, with honors. He attended Hillsborough Community College and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. He then attended Tampa Technical Art Institute where he received a degree in graphic arts and design. Jeff designed the sport logo for Yale University of which he was very proud. He returned to Tampa and continued his work here. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and being with his three young nephews, Dillon, Matthew and Zachary Russo. He had a deep Christian faith. Jeff is survived by his parents, Jack and Shirley Russo; and brothers, Louis Russo (Angela), David Russo (Julie); nephews, Dillon, Matthew, Zachary; aunts Laura Jones (Jerry) and Violet Sansom; cousins, Damon and Jason Jones, Paul and Jacqueline Russo, David and Mike Rhodes and Susan Twiggs, and many other family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct 16, 2013 at 3 pm at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa. A visitation will be held between 2-3 pm. A graveside committal service at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park will be held immediately following the service. SKANTZE, Doreen M. age 88, started her spirit journey Oct. 12, 2013. Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, moved to the United States as a young woman and married Vincent "Bud" Skantze in Detroit, MI after World War II. She raised three children, John, Alan and Ted Skantze, who survive her. Those left to share in the joy of her life are, Kristin Skantze, Brenda Skantze; grandchildren, Amanda, Jason, Charlie, Jack; great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Jaxon and many friends. SNYDER, John E. 83, Port Richey, died Oct. 12, 2013. He was born in Bakers Summit, PA and moved to Port Richey in 2000 from Levittown, PA. A US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by siblings, Daniel, Clarence and Orpha Snyder, Louise Waite and Grace Nowak. Survived by five generations of nieces and nephews. SWARTSEL, Linda K. age 66, passed away on Oct. 10, 2013. Linda was born in Plant City and resided in Florida all of her life. She was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Byron, of 44 years and brothers, Ronald, Butch, Steven, Joseph, Timothy; sisters, Carolyn, Susan, Sandy, Nancy; and many loving nieces and nephews. WOLFINGTON, Samuel Martin (Jack) passed to be with Jesus. He was an Army forward observer, Chief Engineer at MacDill AFB and later stationed in London. He was an active Professional Engineer with a BSE from University of Illinois. He was a member of Shriners, Scotttish Rite and Lodge #25. He was a kind and charitable man that engaged in random acts of kindness to strangers, was an avid golfer and cherished time with family and friends. He was a perfect gentleman. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tate Wolfington; his two sons, Jay and Michael; his grandchildren, Jack and Brooke and other loving family and friends.
