The attorney representing Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez and a lawyer for baseball's chief witness against him nearly came to blows during the third day of hearings in Rodriguez's appeal of his 211-game suspension, media outlets reported. On Oct.2, Joe Tacopina, who represents Rodriguez, and Julio Ayala, a lawyer for accused PED distributor Anthony Bosch, had to be separated after Tacopina said Bosch would go to jail and Ayala retorted that Rodriguez would as well.

More 'bad luck' for Ripken's mother
Vi Ripken, mother of baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, was threatened at gunpoint in the parking lot of a bank in Aberdeen, Md., on Tuesday. Police said Vi Ripken was unhurt and nothing was taken from her. In July 2012, Vi Ripken was abducted at gunpoint and released unharmed. Police said there was no apparent connection, describing it as "a string of bad luck."
