FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo, whose 546 tackles since 2010 are the most in the NFL, was placed on season-ending injured reserve Wednesday.

After making a tackle Sunday, Mayo reached for the upper right area of his chest. But the team didn't disclose details of the injury, and his agent did not respond to a Yahoo report that Mayo had surgery for a torn chest muscle.

Rookie Jamie Collins and fourth-year player Dane Fletcher are expected to fill in for Mayo.

Meanwhile, receiver Danny Amendola (concussion) and corner Aqib Talib (hip flexor) missed practice. Their status hasn't been determined.

Cowboys: Defensive tackle Jay Ratliff, an All-Pro in 2009 elected to the Pro Bowl in four consecutive seasons, was released after failing a physical. He had been on the physically unable to perform list after offseason surgery for a sports hernia and a hamstring injury sustained just before training camp.

Jaguars: Receiver Justin Blackmon missed practice with a tight groin and hamstring. His status hasn't been determined.

Jets: Corner Dee Milliner practiced on a limited basis for the first time since hurting a hamstring Sept. 25. His status hasn't been determined.

Lions: Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was fined $31,500 for Sunday's late hit on Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden, the Associated Press reported.

Rams: Right tackle Rodger Saffold practiced for the first time since hurting his left knee during the opener. His status hasn't been determined.

Ravens: Linebacker Jameel McClain practiced for the first time since sustaining a spinal cord contusion Dec. 9. He will remain on the physically unable to perform list for at least this week.

Steelers: Linebacker Jarvis Jones missed practice with what the team called a "head injury."

Texans: Quarterback Matt Schaub missed practice with the ankle injury sustained Sunday. T.J. Yates and Case Keenum split first-team reps. Also, starting safety Danieal Manning is out for the season with a right knee injury. The team didn't disclose details of the injury.

Titans: Quarterback Jake Locker practiced for the first time since injuring his right knee and right hip Sept. 29 but is expected to sit Sunday.
