RAYS SEND TWO TO CHISOX FOR CRAIN

The Rays didn't get anything out of their trade for reliever Jesse Crain, and it cost them two low-level minor-leaguers and an unannounced amount of cash.

Left-hander Sean Bierman, a 2012 10th-round draft pick from the University of Tampa, and infielder Ben Kline, who both played at Class A this season, were sent to the White Sox on Wednesday to complete the trade.

Bierman was 6-5, 2.55 while splitting the season between Class A Bowling Green and Charlotte. Kline, a 32nd-round pick in 2012, hit .246 with 15 RBIs in 40 games over three lower levels.

Crain was acquired July 29 with a strained shoulder and did not recover in time to pitch for the Rays. He is expected to have a minor surgical procedure and will be a free agent.
