A STEADY HAND

Gulfport

Earnest Edwards steadies his granddaughter, Sherry Edwards, 2, on Thursday at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Oktoberfest. Former festival chair Tim Yeazell said the event is bigger than it has been in years, including 19 rides and about 10 food vendors. After an absence because of declining finances, the big tent is back this year for people to gather for dining and music. "We hope the crowd comes back and takes another look," said Yeazell. The event runs today through Sunday at 15th Avenue S and 58th Street.
