Blues forward Max Lapierre was suspended for five games without pay for boarding Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle on Tuesday. He served the first game while awaiting an in-person hearing Friday. Boyle was knocked out on the play, taken off the ice on a stretcher and spent the night in a hospital. The former Lightning player, who had said he was okay, missed the Sharks' 4-3 shootout loss to the Stars on Thursday. ... Avalanche left wing Cody McLeod was offered an in-person hearing for boarding Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall on Thursday. In-person hearings are offered when a suspension could exceed five games. The first-period hit got McLeod thrown out of the game. Kronwall was taken off the ice on a stretcher. He had a concussion and cuts to his right ear, the team said. He was day to day, the team said. ... Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer practiced after leaving Thursday's game with the Hurricanes 32 seconds in following a collision with a teammate. Reimer was hit in the neck and said he had a headache. He said he expected to be available for today's game against the Blackhawks.
