It only took one half for Carrollwood Day to dominate Friday's district matchup with Bradenton Christian.
The Patriots gained 330 yards of offense, had three picks for 100 return yards and a 42-0 lead going into halftime. The running-clock second half and substitute-heavy teams produced a 49-0 final score.
The Patriots (5-3, 3-1) control their own playoff destiny with matchups at Cambridge and home for Northside left on the slate.
Patriots junior Mike Smith was anywhere and everywhere Friday. Smith finished with three catches for 136 yards and three touchdowns as well as a 71-yard interception returned for a touchdown. His performance pushed him right back into the race for county receiving leader.
Teammate Taylor King had sparkling numbers - 6-for-8 for 285 yards and four touchdowns and one pick. The Patriots got a lift from freshman Nazir Achecar, who had a 75-yard touchdown catch and run and another 42-yard catch that set up the final Patriot touchdown.
"(Achecar) deserves it; he works hard at practice and deserves something good to happen to him like that," Smith said.
