St. Petersburg Catholic celebrated its homecoming with an impressive 42-14 win over Shorecrest.

A touchdown pass from Travis Dugan to Jake DeGeare gave the Chargers a brief 7-0 lead. SPC answered on the kickoff when Chris White went 90 yards for the tying score.

From that point it was all Barons, who scored the next 35 points.

Jacquan Fuller and Tony Jones accounted for all five of SPC's offensive touchdowns, four rushing. Quarterback Jack Sheehan connected with Jones for a 53-yard catch and run that gave the Barons a 21-7 lead late in the second quarter.

The Barons (4-3, 2-1) defense helped its offense extend that lead as it intercepted the Chargers on two drives in the third quarter. Both turnovers led to SPC touchdowns, including runs of 28 and 8 yards by Fuller.

Shorecrest (2-4, 0-2) scored its second touchdown late in the fourth when quarterback Sam Grant completed 36-yard pass to Mark Dowling.

Barons coach Steve Dudley said his team was sharper after halftime.

"We came out in the second half and played good football," Dudley said. "The offensive line played real well."
