ALLEN, Richard B. 88, of Lutz, passed away on Oct. 16, 2013. He was born on Oct. 30, 1924 in Prophets-town, IL. Richard served his country during WWII with United States Marine Corps. After his military service, he began a career in crane operating, a craft he did up until he was 84 years old. Richard was part of the crew that removed the section of the Skyway Bridge that collapsed. ANDERSON, Ruth Guenther 90, Fort Myers, passed away Oct. 18, 2013. She was born in St. Petersburg and was a 1941 graduate of St. Petersburg High School and a 1944 graduate of the Mound Park Hospital School of Nursing. Following WW II Ruth served as a nurse for the Veterans Administration at Bay Pines then pursued a degree in Nursing Education from Duke University. Ruth worked in St. Petersburg for many years as a Registered Nurse before joining the Pinellas County Health Department. She retired in 1983 and moved to Citrus County where she remained active as a volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Since 2009 Ruth had been living at Calusa Harbor Assisted Living in Ft. Myers. BOUCK, Lila Jeanne (Lee) 84, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away on Oct. 13, 2013. Originally, from East Cleveland, Ohio, Lee graduated from Shaw High School in 1947. She worked as a summer lifeguard at East Cleveland Community Pool, prior to attending Cleveland School of Art. She went on to work as an artist in the Advertising Department at Higbee's Department Store until 1950, when she married Robert Bouck. The couple eventually settled in Olathe, KS, where they raised their family. Lee and Bob retired to Palm Harbor, Florida in 1973, where she enjoyed golfing, painting, needlepoint and other artistic endeavors into her later years. Lee is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert C. Bouck; her 3 sons, Lawrence, Robert Jr., & David; 3 grandsons; 1 granddaughter. She is predeceased by her daughter, Bonnie and one grandson.
BRADFORD, G. Curtis 77, went home to be with his Lord on Oct. 10, 2013. Curtis was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Faye Bradford. He is survived by his brother and sisterin-law, Jack and Marge Bradford; daughter, Debby Bradford Kampert; daughter and son-in-law, Ricci and Stephen Lubrant; and grandchildren, Justin, Rachel, Chas, Chase and Carlee. Curtis graduated from Brandon High School in 1954, obtained his B.S. degree from the University of Tampa and his M.A. from the University of South Florida. He taught in the Hillsborough County public school system for several years and worked for over 15 years for Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation, retiring in 1975 as a Director. Answering his life's calling, Curtis began full time pastoring at the First Baptist Church of Keystone Park in November 1974. As the church grew, it changed its name to Freedom Baptist and then in 1981, became In the Name of Jesus World Outreach Center, now Impact Church of Keystone. Even with his retirement in Aug. 2010, Curtis continued to be an inspiring teacher and compassionate leader to the church community. He will be greatly missed. BREWER, Rosemary E. (Ward) age 82, of Safety Harbor, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. She was preceded in death by daughters, Lora Dermody and Leisa Ward, and son, Marty Ward. DOUGHERTY, Grace 94, of St. Petersburg, born April 7, 1919, a retired teacher, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at Westminster Suncoast Health Center. She lived at Westminster Shores Retirement Community since 1998. Born in Cambridge, MD, daughter of the late Russell P. and Leila B. Smith, she attended high school in Cambridge and was a graduate of Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College. She was wife of the late Rev. A. Edward Dougherty, a United Methodist Minister, and taught elementary school in Manchester, NH, for 22 years. During that time, she took graduate courses at the University of New Hampshire. The couple retired to Florida in 1983 residing in the Bahama Shores neighborhood and later at Westminster Shores. Her husband of 59 years, died in 2001. Mrs. Dougherty is survived by three sons, Alexander E. Dougherty III (Ann), Jeffrey M. Dougherty (Lynne), and Timothy R. Dougherty; and two daughters, Anna Lee Shipman and Leila S. GARNER, Gary Niles 69, of Tampa, passed away suddenly Oct. 16, 2013. Upon returning home to Tampa, Gary met and married Carol and graduated from the University of South Florida. Gary spent his career in Tampa as a Commercial Real Estate Broker and with Tuflex. He was a member of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church and the Tampa Yacht Club. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, boating, and hunting. He loved his dogs, cooking for friends and family, his country, and most of all, his family. Gary was a true patriot who will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him. LAW, John Maxwell "MAX" 91, grove owner. Max Law passed away peacefully at home with his family on Oct. 17, 2013, in Land O' Lakes. Max was born on April 20, 1922 in Tampa to Max Well Law and Myra Wells Law. He attended local schools and was a 1941 graduate of Hillsborough High School. A WWII veteran, he entered the Army in 1942 and was in the 94th Bomb Group of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. Max was a waist gunner on a B-17 flying missions over Europe. On his 12th mission, with two engines out, his plane made an emergency landing in Switzerland where they were interred for almost a year. He married Betty Jameson on Feb. 10, 1946 in Tampa, and they moved to Pasco County where he lived for the remainder of his life. Max was a true native Floridian, he loved to hunt, fish, and go camping around the country with family and friends. He was a citrus grower and worked for Tropicana Products. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Land O'Lakes. He was truly one of the good guys and will be greatly missed. Max is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Betty; and 4 children, John, Don (Gail), Nancy Law, and Betsy (Mark) Lamoy all of Land O' Lakes; grandchildren include Amanda, Jennifer, William, Keith, Stacey, and Jamie; and 4 great-grandchildren; a sister Lomie Teague of Dade City; and a brother Herbert (Virginia) of Land O' Lakes; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. MARRA, Arlene C. 74, of Tarpon Springs, died Oct. 10, 2013 in Manchester, NJ. She was a parishioner at St. Ignatius Church. She lived in Glen Rock, NJ for 31 years before retiring and moving to Florida in 1994. MILLER, Carl Jr. 90, succumbed to a heart attack on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at Marliere Hospice in New Port Richey. Mr. Miller was a Christian, a veteran of WWII and a 32nd degree Mason. He represented the first generation of a prominent local insurance family. He founded and operated Carl Miller Insurance and Real Estate in Mechanicsburg, OH for 35 years and retired to live in Gulf Harbors and later Timber Oaks with his wife of 36 years, Kathleen Jo Ann (Hatfield) Miller. MISKOLCZI, John 85, of Oldsmar passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2013, surrounded by his family at his home. Born in Hungary, he lived in the Tampa Bay area for forty years. He owned his own custom cabinet business. He played professional soccer in Hungary, Canada and Ohio. He loved playing tennis and until recently, stayed active in the sport. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Susan; his son, John and wife Pamela; granddaughter, Lindsey; daughter, Susie Forns and husband Jose; niece, Dee Parragh; and many family members in Hungary. MOREE, Frederick LaPaul 84, of St. Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 17, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Deland, on Sept. 5, 1929. He was raised in the Everglades and was a "True Floridian". He graduated from high school at Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948 and served as a Technical Sergeant of Marines for six years. His war was Korea and he was a member of the 1st Marine Brigade, the first fighting unit to enter Korea in 1950. He was a survivor of the March to the Sea from the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. He was the recipient of numerous medals for service, merit and valor, including the Medal of Valor presented by the President of South Korea. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1510, the American Legion Post 273 and the Disabled American Veterans. Upon his discharge, in 1954, he enrolled in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida and graduated in 1957 with high honors. He received various academic scholarships and awards, and was designated a Distinguished Scholar by the University of Florida, and was accepted into Phi Kappa Phi. Following graduation, he moved to St. Petersburg and established the chain of pharmacies known as, "The Apothecary", in the Tampa Bay Area. In 1962, he became a Diplomat and Full Fellow of the American Academy of Apothecaries. Years later, he owned and operated Midtown Pharmacy in central St. Petersburg. He was also a founding member of Azalea Little League and served as president of the league for six years. During his term as president, the Starley M. White Little League Baseball Complex was built and, over the past 40 years, this facility has provided recreational and developmental opportunities for tens of thousands of boys and girls in St. Petersburg. He was an honorary life member of the board of directors of the league. His greatest satisfactions in life were service to his country, his scholarly achievements, his career as a pharmacist, his philanthropy, and his privilege and joy to be a husband, father and grandfather to his beloved family, whom he selflessly and unfailingly served throughout his life. He believed in the Lord and was a member of Pasadena Community Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Maggi; two sons, Scott, of Greensboro, NC and, Jeff, of Mundelein, IL. Also, he is survived by four grandchildren, Brad, Julie, Jeff and Shannon; and a sister, Betty Pollnitz of Ellicott City, MD. And, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much. The family will receive friends in the Rose Garden, adjacent to the Goodwin Chapel, at Pasadena Community Church between 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 and a celebration of his life will be held immediately thereafter in the Goodwin Chapel. ROBINSON, Trevor 43, of Riverview died October 12, 2013 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He is survived by two daughters, Shelby and Shayla Robinson; parents Crystal (Chris) and Ralph Brown; sister Dana (husband David) Brooks; brother Scott (wife Azadeh) Brown; numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends. Trevor was born in Elkhart, IN, and lived for several years in Fort Wayne before moving to Florida in 1987. Trevor loved fiercely, and his daughters and family were the recipients of his unconditional love and loyalty. He loved animals of all kinds and was always rescuing and finding homes for those critters who needed him. He was a staunch supporter of animal rights and was sickened by any form of abuse to animals or people who weren't able to protect themselves. Trevor had a personality larger than life. His hugs were big, his smile was big, his sense of humor made everyone who came into contact with him laugh right along with him. He loved cars and motorcycles, especially Mustangs and his beloved Suzuki GSXR. His death leaves a hole that will never be filled. He died as he lived, hard and fast. He is mourned and loved by many. WILLIAMS, Mae E. 79, went to be with the lord on Sept. 14, 2013. Survived by her daughter, Kim Williams; grandchildren Cameron Dillard & Cayleigh Dillard. Mae was a member of the Indian Rocks Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed.
