'WOLVES TOP HEAT IN 2OT

Times wires

MIAMI - Corey Brewer hit one of two free throws with 1.8 seconds left in the second overtime, and the Timberwolves beat the Heat 122-121 Friday.

Referee Ken Mauer called the last foul on Miami's Norris Cole, saying he hit Brewer, a former Gator standout, on a pass into the paint.

Ray Allen missed a wild jumper as time expired for Miami, which blew a chance to move two games clear of the Pacers in the loss column atop the Eastern Conference standings.

Kevin Love had 28 points and 11 rebounds for Minnesota.

LeBron James scored 34 for the Heat, which got a season-high 24 each from Mario Chalmers and Chris Bosh, who hit a tying 3 with 10.8 seconds left in the second overtime.

Bobcats top Magic: Al Jefferson had 29 points and 16 rebounds, and the host Bobcats held off a fourth-quarter rally to beat the Magic 91-80. Victor Oladipo scored 21 for the Magic, which shot 35.6 percent from the field and made 3 of 11 3-pointers. Despite that, Orlando cut a 21-point Charlotte lead to 76-69 on Oladipo's 3-pointer with 8:58 left in the game. But Gary Neal's three-point play 26 seconds later pushed the Bobcats' lead back into double figures. Magic center Nikola Vucevic was a late scratch for what team officials said was a sore Achilles tendon. His status for tonight's home game against the Timberwolves was unknown.

Game highlights: Former Gator Bradley Beal made the go-ahead jumper with 22 seconds left and scored 28, and the Wizards edged the host Knicks 90-89. The loss dropped the Knicks out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, with the struggling Hawks taking a one-game lead after beating the visiting Cavaliers 117-98. ... Henry Sims had career highs with 24 points and nine rebounds and the 76ers beat the host Celtics 111-102. The Sixers have won two of four since tying a league record with 26 straight losses.

Around the league: Bucks center Larry Sanders will be suspended for five games next season when he returns from injury for violating the league's drug policy. Sanders said he was penalized for using marijuana and apologized. He is recovering from a fractured right orbital bone suffered Feb. 8 when the Rockets' James Harden elbowed him going for a rebound. The Bucks said Sanders disappointed them. ... Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham was charged with assault after being accused of choking his girlfriend during an argument at his suburban Minneapolis home. Cunningham, 26, remained jailed Friday night with bail set at $40,000. The team said it would comment after the legal process played out.
