CANTERBURY SCHOOL TO EXPAND

The Canterbury School of Florida has announced a campaign to raise $500,000 for improvements to both of its campuses in St. Petersburg.

At its Hough Campus on Snell Isle Boulevard for students age 3 through fourth grade, the school is planning to turn the library into an "interactive learning center" and add a shade structure to the courtyard. The center is to be outfitted with new technology, including tablets and a multitouch smart table, plus more inviting spaces for research and reflection.

A new 3,219-square-foot science center, shown here, is planned at the Knowlton Campus on 62nd Avenue NE for grades 5-12. The school says the facility will allow the staff to customized the space for different classes and perform more sophisticated lab work.

The school plans to break ground on both projects in May. The initiative, called "the Imagine Campaign," recently was announced by Mac Hall, the head of school, at Canterbury's annual State of the School address.
