BANASZAK, Peri Anne 51, passed away March 15, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem, NC, after a long illness. Peri graduated from Brandon High School in 1980 with a cosmetologist license. She was passionate about being a hairstylist. Peri left Florida in 2002. She will be remembered as a spirited sister, a favorite Aunt Peri and a loving friend. A family service will be held at a later date.

BARBER, Suzanne Carol Heaven received another angel. Suzanne Carol Barber, of Indian Rocks Beach, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2014 at Largo Medical Center in Largo. Suzanne is survived by her two loving children, Theodore Barber, his wife Angela Barber, and Lauren Barber Heamon; and three grandchildren, Casey Watkins, her husband Cory Watkins, Teddi Rae Barber, and Nicholas Heamon. Suzanne was born on Feb. 11, 1933 in New York City. A devoted wife, an incredible mother and grandmother, a talented artist, a loyal friend, and an amazing woman, she will be missed by all those who had the honor of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, her family requests a donation made in Suzanne's memory to Suncoast Hospice. A memorial service is being planned at a later date.

BONTA, Loretta Verble Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grand-mother peacefully began her next journey Sunday, March 30, 2014 with her family by her side. Loretta was born Nov. 5, 1932 in St. Louis, MO to Ernest and Marie Verble and was a sister to Norma Jean Butler, Johnnie Ernest Verble, and Gary Lee Verble. In 1964 she moved her family to Tampa. She married Robert "Bob" Carl Bonta in 1987 and they enjoyed their life together in Thonotosassa, FL. Loretta is survived by her spouse, Bob and her five children, Sharon Marie (Raymond) Tapia, Linda Lea (Skip) Knopke, Carol Sue King, Carl Wayne (Susanne) LaMonte, and Brian Ernest LaMonte. She was the loving grandmother to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. EDWARDS, John G. "Jack" 82, passed away March 12, 2014. Jack served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired NY State Security Officer. Upon retiring, Jack moved to Florida and was involved in several veterans' organizations including the Korean War Veterans Asso-ciation (KWVA) in which he was founder and president of the Sunshine State Chapter, first president KWVA depart-ment of Florida and KWVA National Director for several years. Jack is survived by his wife, Jean of 60 years; daughter, Debbie; and sons, David, Dennis, Douglas, Darryl and Derek. Jack was preceded in death by his youngest child, Danny. ESPARZA, Joanne L. departed to Heaven on April 4, 2014, and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Esparza. FAVA, Yves C. slipped quietly into heaven surrounded by her best friend and husband, Hugh Fava and close family members April 2, 2014. She was born in Newark, NJ May 19, 1934. GOODRICH, Elsa S. 71, of Lutz, went home to be with the Lord April 3, 2014. LaVOY, DeForest our most loved husband and father, passed away on March 28, 2014. He was born in Syracuse, NY, on April 18, 1930, the son of the late DeForest LaVoy and Anita Young LaVoy. He graduated from Eastwood High School in Syracuse, in 1947 and attended Oswego State College before moving to Tampa with his parents in 1949. He continued his education at the University of Tampa and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in English in 1952. While at the University, he was active in sports, rowing crew on the Tampa Great Team of "8" and participated in many regattas with other colleges on the East Coast. He was a member of the Beta Chi fraternity. After graduation from college he enlisted in the Navy and did three tours of duty in the Pacific during the Korean War. DeForest (DE) met his wife, Madge Kleinhammer a fellow University of Tampa student and they were married in 1953. They celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on Jan. 17, 2014. De had a very successful career in the insurance industry working with both commercial and personal lines of insurance. He retired from Florida Federal Savings and Loan in St. Petersburg in 1993 as Senior Vice President and Manager of Florida First service Cooperation, a subsidiary of Florida Federal. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Lodge 139 in St. Petersburg for 53 years, a member of the Scottish Rite in Tampa, and a member of the Egypt Temple Shrine where he was an active member of the Patrol and served on the Shriner's Hospital Committee for Crippled Children. He is survived by his wife, Madge; and his two wonderful children, Patricia LaVoy Fuller and her husband, John Fuller, and DeForest LaVoy III and his wife, Patti Wilsey LaVoy and their three children, DeForest LaVoy IV, Kirsten LaVoy and Brooke LaVoy. De was always fun loving and happy with a positive outlook on life. His reward in life was to reach out to others. He was an avid reader and a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. He and his wife Madge, loved to travel with friends and family reaching all 50 states, Europe and cruising the seas. McLAREN, David Churchill 83, of Clearwater, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. David was born Oct. 8, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Malcolm and Edna Cartwright McLaren. He grew up in Dearborn, MI and attended Greenfield Village Schools and Edison Institute. In 1939 he was selected by Ford to demonstrate, in front of 500 guests, the new Ford 9N Tractor and was featured with Henry Ford to plow a patch of soy beans at the Ford Estate in Dearborn showing that it was so easy to operate that an 8 year old could do it. In 1948 he moved to Belleair Beach with his parents and graduated from Clearwater High School in 1950. David is a USAF veteran, graduate of Southern Technical Institute and Nova University. He had his private pilot's license and volunteered within the community including at Everybody's Tabernacle. In 1986 David retired from GTE, Tampa after 29 years. Afterwards, he did consulting work with his company ITELA. He was a Life member and Past Regional Director of IEEE; he was a member, Deacon and Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clearwater. After retirement David enjoyed attending high school reunions, Clearwater Historical Society Fish Frys, traveling with his wife and his bicycle group, The Silver Riders. David is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lynn in 2013; and is survived by his children, Peter and his wife, Cindee, Carrie and her husband, Charles Star, Paul and his wife Karla; 4 grandsons, Malcolm, Sidney, Wesley, and Brad; his brother, John; nephew, Michael and nieces, Sue and Margaret. MONTAGUE, Maude Nickols 98, of St. Petersburg died March 30, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born in Fabius, NY, on May 25, 1915 and graduated from Syracuse University in 1940. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Dr. Richard Montague (S.U. 1940) whom she met her senior year. She is survived by three children, Stephen (London, England), John (Buffalo, NY), and Cynthia (Charleston, SC); grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. After previously living in the west, and in Tallahassee, she settled with her family in St. Petersburg in 1959. She was not only a loving mother but an excellent dress designer, homemaker, horsewoman, enthusiastic tennis player and musician. She enjoyed camping, canoeing and gardening. And, with her husband she travelled extensively both in the U.S. and abroad. As a long time resident of the Old Northeast she took an active interest in the city's architectural preservation and for many years has made the family home here a center for holiday gatherings. She will be sorely missed not only by her family and neighbors but by all who knew and loved her.

POTENBERG, Marilyn Joy (Vogel), 50, of Oldsmar, died Sunday, March 30, 2014. She was born to Ruth (Vogel) Korn and the late Richard W. Vogel, Jan. 12, 1964, in Crugers, NY. Marilyn was a graduate of Hendrick Hudson High School (1982) and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School (1983). She married Warren Potenberg of Oldsmar, FL in 1999. Marilyn was passionate about serving children; she was Children's Ministry Assistant at Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, and served in previous roles as Director of Children's Ministry at Bethel Baptist Church in Vilas, NC and as Children's Ministry Assistant at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks in Largo. PUIG, Ilka Munoz born 1940, 73, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at her home in Zephyrhills, surrounded by her loving family. Ilka was born July 5, 1940 to parents Gilbert and Isabel Munoz, in Havana, Cuba and moved to Key West when she was a small child. She graduated from Key West High School in 1957. In 1975, the family moved to Land O'Lakes, where she established the Little Red Schoolhouse Montessori School. Ilka's love for teaching children inspired her to sell her business and return to college to earn her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Ilka moved to Zephyrhills, in April of 1994 and began her teaching career in the Pasco County School District. Ilka taught English to the Spanish speaking children under the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program. In her endeavor to improve the education of these children, she extended her teaching to the parents of these children. She volunteered her spare time to adult literacy. Ilka's main passion was to help pregnant women who were lost in life. She became an advocate for these women and believed through her Christian faith that anything was possible through God. Ilka's dream was to one day see a facility built where these women could reside with their children and was instrumental in establishing the building fund for this cause. Through this non-profit corporation, she helped and inspired the women and their children that came through their center to better themselves through education. An avid traveler, Ilka enjoyed many trips to different areas around the world. She was a past member of Eastern Stars, member of Alpha Delta Kappa, and a member of the Alliance Church of Zephyrhills. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Isabel Munoz; and brother, Gibby Munoz. She is survived by her two sons, Mark Puig and his partner, Robert Collins of Orlando, and Steve Puig and his partner, Larry Shaw of Tampa; and daughter, Pamela Leonard, and husband, Chris of Pensacola; three sisters, Ceres Silva, Celia Munoz, and Niurka Burgess; granddaughter, Jessica; and grandson, Timothy; and two great-grandchildren, Robert Orlando and Madison Marie. A very special thanks to the outstanding Hospice staff who provided comfort and care during her last days. A Celebration Service will be held Saturday, April 12, from 12-1 pm at Zephyrhills Alliance Church, 6251 Fort King Road, with a luncheon afterwards to commemorate her life. REIDER, John J. 87, passed away on April 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He resided in St. Peters burg for the last 46 years. He was a graduate of the University of Rochester, NY; and served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He had a long and successful career with the Western Auto Company. Upon retirement, he opened the Den of Antiquity Tavern and was proprietor for 8 years. He was a past member of Loyal Order of Moose and served as governor of the Carpentersville, IL Lodge. He was a member of the American Legion Post 14, St. Petersburg. John enjoyed the pastimes of bowling, traveling and watching the Tampa Bay Rays, Buccaneers and Lightning. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Ann; and his son Kenneth (Lois) Reider; and daughter, Carol (Rick) Moran; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. SCHWINGE, Arthur R. "Art" 83, of Spring Hill, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014. Born in Secaucus, NJ Jan. 8, 1931 to the late Ethyl and Arthur Schwinge, he was a Korean War veteran in the US Air Force. Art was a crackerjack mechanic who could fix anything and could frequently be found tinkering under the hood of his car or giving it a daily polish. He loved Nascar racing, the stock market, and lottery. Art is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elsie Schwinge; his sister, Jean Bujese of Homosassa; and three children, Jacqueline Slate, of Denver, CO, Laura Keller, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Arthur Lloyd Schwinge, of Maryville, TN. SEYMOUR, Lloyd Richard age 75, of Tierra Verde, passed a-way peacefully April 2, 2014. SNOW, Arthur L. Jr. "Roy" 76, of Tampa, went home on April 3, 2014. Roy served with the United States Air Force during Vietnam and retired in 1977 after 20 years of service. He was then an independent agent for American National Insurance Company. ST. JOHN, Joseph Anthony age 101, was born in Schenectady, NY, in 1912. He is the last to survive of six children of Concetta (Vergine) and Ralph St. John (San Giovanni) who emigrated from the Compania province of Italy in the early 1900s. In 1960, he relocated to Tampa with his family. For 71 years, he has been married to Frances Szalinga St. John. They have three children: sons, David of Lithia, and Joseph of Nashville, TN, and a daughter, Donna St. John of the Washington, DC area and now living in St. Petersburg; also have 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grand-children, numerous nieces and nephews. A World War II veteran who served two tours of duty, Mr. St. John spent his entire, lengthy career in the food marketing business. He was transferred to Tampa in 1960 to become manager for a new chain of supermarkets in the Tampa Bay area. He retired at age 72 as collection manager for Li'l General. Previously, he was regional manager for Jackson Minit Markets. Following retirement, Mr. and Mrs. St. John enrolled in the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, working at a Daystar Life Center (a local Catholic charity) for some 20 years. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe and the Caribbean with his wife and, occasionally, with his grandson David. A longtime communicant of Christ the King Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary Makers. An Avid sports fan, who also loved to draw, creating original artworks on a near daily basis. WILSON, James Michael 70, of New Port Richey, FL, pas-sed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, peacefully at his home. He was raised in Brentwood, NY, and moved to Florida in 1978. He was a graduate of Long Island University. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Olga; daughter, Colleen; son, Brian; brothers, Fred and Paul; sister-in-law, Jackie; niece, Marcie; nephew, Steve; and their children, and many more brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Jim was an insurance agent and retired from Allstate Insurance after a successful 20 year career. He was devout Catholic and was a member St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hudson, FL. He loved to play gold and loved watching baseball and football. Jim was a kind and gentle man and more than anything, he enjoyed helping people and was always first in offering a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends and all the lives he has touched.
