HAWKS BOOST HOPES, BOOT REELING PACERS

Times wires

INDIANAPOLIS - Atlanta got Indiana at exactly the right time.

The Pacers couldn't shoot early, couldn't defend most of the night, and benched All-Star center Roy Hibbert for the final 30 minutes - all against a sub-.500 team fighting for a playoff spot.

Jeff Teague scored 25 in his hometown as the Hawks handed the NBA's best home team an embarrassing 107-88 loss Sunday.

The Pacers had a franchise-low 23 points in the first half.

"I think as many games as we play, sometimes you just have a half like that," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. "I think we participated in it some, but I think we just caught them on a rough night."

Atlanta has won three of four to extend its lead over New York to two games for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot.

Indiana has lost four of five and trails Miami by a game for the East's No. 1 seed. Paul George scored 18 and David West had 17 points. As for Hibbert, coach Frank Vogel said he is worn out.

It was the fewest first-half points by Indiana since it joined the NBA from the ABA in 1976, four fewer than it scored Nov. 10, 2004, against the Clippers.

Parker leaves win: The host Spurs beat the Grizzlies 112-92 after losing Tony Parker, who left with back spasms in the first quarter. The All-Star point guard fell squarely on his back after being fouled by Mike Conley. Parker played a bit more but left for good with 2:41 left in the first.

Blazers clinch: LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and 18 rebounds as the host Trail Blazers clinched their first playoff appearance in three seasons with a 100-94 win over the Pelicans.

Game highlights: The host Suns beat the Thunder 122-115 behind 26 points from Goran Dragic and despite Kevin Durant, who scored 38 for his 41st consecutive game of 25 or more. ... LeBron James scored 38 for the host Heat, which survived an NBA-record 22 3-point tries by New York's J.R. Smith to win 102-91. Smith hit 10 3s and scored 32. ... Blake Griffin and Chris Paul scored 23 apiece as the Clippers routed Lakers, their Staples Center co-tenant, 120-97.

Around the league:Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham was arrested for the second time in less than a week. He was suspected of making terrorist threats just days after being accused of felony domestic assault for an incident involving his girlfriend. Medina (Minn.) police Officer Chris McGill said police would release more information today.
