ONLY 1 CAN BE PERFECT

Now a perfect season, and an elusive NCAA women's title, is within Notre Dame's grasp. But standing in the way is perennial power Connecticut, creating the first NCAA women's title matchup of undefeated teams. The Fighting Irish improved to 37-0 Sunday and advanced to Tuesday's national championship game with an 87-61 victory over Maryland in Nashville. Kayla McBride scored 28 for the Irish, who play the 39-0 Huskies. UConn beat Stanford 75-56 in the other semifinal. It's the third time in four years Notre Dame has been in the title game, but the Irish are looking for their first championship since 2001. UConn is 8-0 in title games.
