For starters, Rays at Royals in the sunshine

UPDATE, 1:16: Manager Joe Maddon dropped Wil Myers from 2nd to 7th and put Matt Joyce in the No. 3 spot for two reasons - to take advantage of Joyce being hot and having good numbers vs. Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie, and to take some pressure off Myers, who has been struggling.

Maddon said they still have not decided between LHPs Cesar Ramos and Erik Bedard to take Matt Moore's place in the rotation on Sunday, and that it would be more of a philosophical decision than physical, but would by Friday. For what it's worth, Ramos took batting practice today with the other starters.

Maddon continued to talk about how unhappy he is with the way calls at second base are being handled this season, and 2B Ben Zobrist agreed saying the interpretation of the rule is not logical.

DEVELOPING: Temps are forecast to get into the low 70s this afternoon as the Rays seek to win the series from the Royals in a matinee wrapup.

RHP Jake Odorizzi, who made his major-league debut at Kauffman Stadium for the Royals in Sept. 2012, will be on the mound for the Rays, taking on Royals veteran RHP Jeremy Guthrie.

While the Rays are playing, LHP Matt Moore should be getting to Pensacola, where he will have his sore left elbow further examined by Dr. James Andrews. Indications Tuesday were that Moore had a torn ligament and was likely to have Tommy John surgery, forcing him to miss more than a year.

The Rays are hoping Wil Myers' ninth-inning single, which led to the winning run, will help him relax and move past a season-opening slump.
