Body identified as that of missing man
A body found over the weekend off the Gandy Bridge is that of a man who went missing March 30 from a St. Petersburg bar, police said. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Robert Medley, 28, who listed no address. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Marine Unit had discovered the body Saturday during a training exercise south of the bridge. Tampa police responded and took possession of the body. Detectives were investigating it as an unexplained death. Family members told Bay News 9 that Medley was with his girlfriend and friends at the Getaway Beach Bar on the Pinellas side of the Gandy Bridge when a fight broke out with another person. Medley took off running down the beach, which was the last time his friends said they saw him alive.
