APPLEGATE, Christopher Bruce, 29, of Safety Harbor passed away April 4, 2014. He was born in Muncie, IN on April 26, 1984 and moved to Florida with his family in 1987. Chris attended Harborside Christian Church and was a fulltime student at St. Petersburg College. He was an avid Nebraska Huskers Football fan, an animal lover, and enjoyed music and nature. Chris also had a passion for skydiving. He is preceded in death by his uncles, Stephen and Jeremy Jones and several great-grandparents. Chris is survived by his wife, Alexandria Rame; mother, Veronica (Steve) Boose; father, Bruce (Diane) Applegate; son, Trey Cedeno; brothers, Ryan Apple-gate and Stephen Boose; sister, Nicole Boose; maternal grandparents, Eugene Klett and Vicki Thomson; paternal grandparents, Sharon (David) Kronsbein and Bruce L. (Angie) Applegate; uncles, Tom (Sandy) Applegate and Jeff (Lisa) Jones; and several nieces and nephews. CLELAND, Marilyn T. age 80, of Tampa, passed away on Friday April 4, 2014. She was born on Jan. 1, 1934 in Fenton, MI to her parents Mr. Carl Smith and Mrs. Lucile Ruple Smith. Marilyn attended Bay City High School, Bay City, MI and attended Texas State College for Women. While there, she met her future husband. Marilyn "Lynn" Smith married Maj. USAF Retired, Fred "Scotty" Cleland in Rapid City, SD on June 2, 1956. They had four children, Daryl, Deborah, Carla, and Ruth. She was a full-time mother, part-time worker, and always supportive wife raising their children while her husband Scotty served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. Later on, she worked as an office manager for several businesses over the years and, retired after 20 years of managing Cutro's Music Shop here in Tampa. She never retired from her volunteer work in the church and community working as board member of the Military Officers Wives Club (MOWC), an active volunteer for Operation Helping Hand, as well as a variety of positions and roles within the St. James United Methodist Church. Lynn will be remembered by her loving husband, Fred Cleland; and their family, Daryl and Nilsa Cleland, Deborah Davidson, Carla and Eric Hensen. She was predeceased in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters and her daughter, Ruth. Relatives and friends are invited to remember and celebrate her life at her memorial service this Friday, April 11, 2014, at 11 am at St. James United Methodist Church located at 16202 Bruce B. EBLEN, Teresa Diane 64, of Apollo Beach passed away peacefully Sunday, April 6, 2014 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on Feb. 23, 1950 in Johnson City, TN, to J.D. and Selma Garland. Teresa tireless served for 26 years as a special education teacher. She retired in 2007 after 18 years with the Hillsborough County School District. She taught at Gibsonton Elementary School, Gibsonton and Symmes Elementary School, Riverview. Teresa loved horseback riding and dogs. She also enjoyed breakfast with her Saturday morning group of teachers. Survivors include her devoted husband of 28 years, John; loving parents, J.D and Selma Garland, and loving sister, Emily Shaw and her husband, Joey. GOULD, Helen Eileen 92 of McMec-hen, WV, formerly of Brandon, passed away on April 5, 2014. While living in Florida, Helen was a member of the Moundsville Baptist Church of Valrico. She enjoyed attending many church gatherings there during her time of membership. Preceded in de-ath by her husband, George; her parents; a sister; and two of her brothers. Helen is survived by her son, George and his wife, Connie, Stepson Miles and his wife, Becky; grandson, David and his wife, Stephanie and their children, Garrett, Ty, Bret and Sydney from Dover; and grandson, Chris from McMechen, WV. GUNSAULLUS, John 88, of St. Petersburg, died March 30, 2014. John was born to Burr and Reba Gunsaullus in Mendham, NJ. He is survived by his wife, Olive, sons Paul and John, daughter Johanna Taylor, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in WWII and retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer W-3 after more than 21 years. He also retired from General Elevator after more than 10 years of service. John was always inquisitive, gregarious and enjoyed understanding how things worked. He excelled at all things remote control, from sail boats to model aircraft, winning local, state and national sail plane awards. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. HEMBREY, Debra Jennings born on Aug. 20, 1956, died peacefully in her sleep on April 4, 2014, at the young age of 57. She leaves behind her wonderful husband, Michael, of 38 years; two dedicated sons, Jason and Lance; two amazing granddaughters, Jasmine and Juliana; her brother, Glenn, and daughter-in-law Jacquie; along with many other friends and family. KEEN, Richard A. age 76, of Homosassa, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014, at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville. A native of Portsmouth, NH, he was born Feb. 23, 1938 the son of Allen and Imogene Keen, one of four children. Mr. Keen earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of New Hampshire and was a retired internal auditor with 25 years of service for the Internal Revenue Service, serving in the Boston and New York offices. He moved to Sugarmill Woods in 1987 from Tampa and loved to spend time gardening. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Loretta M. Keen of Homosassa; his son, Jay Keen (wife Woodine) of Homosassa; son, Briant Keen (wife Elizabeth) of Tampa; sisters, Edith Trimble of New Port Richey & Barbara Emerson of Dover, NH; and his granddaughters, Hailey and Carissa Keen of Tampa. LeBLANC, Ernest W. "Ernie" born Aug. 10, 1923, of St. Petersburg, and formerly of Lebanon, NH, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Born in Fitchburg, MA, Ernie was the first of nine children. Educated in New York, he attended Albert's Seminary (Carmelite Friars), in Middletown, NY. He served as Yeoman in the US Navy during World War II; he owned a successful business in New Hampshire for almost five decades before retiring to Florida in 2000. Ernie was a man of deep faith, dedicated to God and church, serving in extensive missionary roles both in New Hampshire and most recently at Holy Cross Parish in St. Petersburg. He was loving, generous, and kind, always looking for the best in others and never judging. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, hugs, and laughter. He lived life to the fullest enjoying classical music, reading, jig-saw puzzles, cards, golf and most of all sharing a meal and conversation with those who meant the most to him. He will be profoundly missed, but he will always be in the hearts of those whom he touched. He was predeceased by his parents, five siblings, his first wife, Irene Blain and second wife, Rita Robillard. He is survived by his brother, Emile (Chuck), and two sisters June Moody and Frances Mulvey of California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family; and his friend, Joan Ferrara of St. Petersburg. LIDINSKY, Marion M. age 89, passed peacefully into eternal rest on April 6, 2014. She was a native of Chicago, having been born to Alexander and Alice Inglis, and residing in Elmhurst through graduation from York Community High School. In 1944, she became a war bride, marrying Edward J. Lidinsky at Fort Belvoir, VA. The joy of her life was becoming a mother to her beloved children, Pamela, twins, Linda and Larry, and Daniel. Marion also embarked on a business career, working at the Carl Broeker & Co Department store in Naperville, IL, and the SunTrust Bank in Florida. She was a world traveler and settled in Tampa in 1990, embracing the Tampa Bay Bucs, water aerobics at the YMCA, and worshipping as a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. She is survived by Pam and John Nichols of Sanford, Linda and Mike Strully, and Dan and Jean Lidinsky, of Tampa; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grand-children. LORGE, Maurice Lewis 90, of Seminole, FL, passed peacefully Saturday, April 5, 2014 with loving family by his side, at the Hospice House. We give thanks to the Lord, for providing us with such caring Hospice & VA Nurses and staff. Maury was a Veteran. He was born in St. Cloud, MN. Loved by all who met him. He could do and fix anything, he was a great "teacher". He was gifted with lots of patience. He was an engineer & crain operator here in Florida, at the same time was the owner of Treasure Bay Motel, Owner/Operator. He and his wife Mary Frances enjoyed people, and operating the motel together. He got to celebrate his 90th birthday with loving family, friends, neighbors, VA & Hospice Nurses. He was very much loved by everyone. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Frances Lorge, his daughter, Rosemary Polli, his son, Ronald Lorge, and mans best friend (Bubba) his Little Mini Pin, he so dearly loved! Survivors include his children, Peter LoPresto, Marcy Baasch, Claire LoPresto, his faithful caring friend Barbara Drew. He is now in his permanent home with Jesus Christ and with his family there in Heaven. Memorial with be performed at a later date in June so all the family will be able to attend.

PERDOMO-DIAZ, Orchid "China" passed away on March 28, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital at age 91. A west Tampa native, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Diaz. She leaves behind two loving sons, Charles and Michael; granddaughter, Stacey; daughter-in-law Linda; nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. POTTER, Virginia Hocker It is with heavy hearts that the family of Virginia Hocker Potter informs her friends of her death on April 2, 2014, at the age of 93. Jinny passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Huntsville, AL, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Dec. 3, 1920 to George F. & Virginia B. Hocker in Bethlehem, PA, where she was raised with her brother George. She graduated from Edgewood Park School, Westchester County, NY, in 1939. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Nelson Potter. Married in 1940, they lived most of their married life in Seaford, DE, where they raised their family. Jinny volunteered at the Nanicoke Hospital and with the scouts. In later years, they opened their home to other children. Jinny and Bill retired to Florida in 1978 where they spent their time in St. Petersburg, on the Florida Keys and enjoyed hosting holidays with family in North Carolina where everyone anticipated her figgy pudding and pecan pie! She was a huge Penn State fan and an avid Bridge player who had little patience for those who didn't feel the passion she did for the game. Although not a musician, Jinny loved live concerts and above all a bold marching band! Jinny made an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her. She was a thoug-htful listener who always lent a helping hand. She cherished family and friends, always had a ready smile and brought out the best in those around her. She is survived by three children, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and extended family in the U.S. and Italy. She lived a very full life and will be greatly missed. No public memorial is planned, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association or your favorite charity.

ROSE, Charles R. 81, a resident of Tampa, died April 5, 2014. He was born Jan. 17, 1933 on a farm in Newton Grove, NC, the son of Allen Lee and Emma Jane Rose.Charlie was an Army veteran and graduated from North Carolina State University as a civil engineer. He retired in 1993 from Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Naval Operating Base, Norfolk after 33 years of government service. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Clare Rose; three children, Charles Rose Jr. (Suzy) of Glen Allen, VA, Martin F. Rose (Allison) of Woodland, CA, and Catherine Rose Carollo (Chris) of Odessa; and seven grandchildren, Meredith and Lindsay Rose, Anna and Nora Rose, and Samuel, Olivia and Emma Carollo. SANTANA, Julio Jr. 38, On April 5, 2014, Julio was taken from this earth to be with his Savior Jesus Christ. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. SNELLGROVE, James Fred 80, of Plant City, died April 8, 2014, at South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City. Born Oct. 17, 1933 in Dublin, GA, he was the son of the late Hubert and Tommie Cochran Snellgrove. He was the husband of Gladys Richter Snell-grove, she survives. James was predeceased by his son, James Fred Snellgrove Jr.; sister, Gloria Rogers. He served as a SP3(T) in the Army from 1954 until 1956, was an ironworker, and a member of Full Gospel Fellowship. Also surviving are brother, Hubert Ray Snellgrove; and his grandson, Chad Alan Snellgrove. The family will be having private services. James will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. TAAFFE, Malcolm Gene 56, of Tampa, passed peacefully Saturday, April 5, 2014, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born Sept. 8, 1957, in The Bronx, NY, Malcolm graduated from the Ohio State University, where he was elected Student Government President. He went on to successful careers in investment banking, finance, and hotel property investment -management. Taaffe served as Board Member for the United Nations Association of the United States of America and Board Member for the Tampa Bay Committee on Foreign Relations. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as usher. Malcolm was a loving father who was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Mary Grace; and survived by his son, Gene Taaffe; daughters, Olivia and Gloria Taaffe; his children's mother, Mary Bruce Johnston; his mother, Theresa Taaffe; his siblings, Frances Taaffe, Jean (Les) Jones, and Joseph (Jen) Taaffe; his fiancée, Amy Ruggiero; and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a large, loving extended family and many friends including Dr. Michael Chirichello and Terry McCarthy of TJM Properties. A celebration of Malcolm's life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tampa, Florida on Friday April 11, at 2 pm. Joyce was a real estate agent and worked for Dennis Realty for several years. She was a member of Legion Auxiliary Post #147, and Beta Sigma Phi. WASSER, Janet Rhea (Moody) 81, of New Port Richey, formerly of Sharon Center, OH died peacefully at her home under the care of HPH Hospice, surrounded by family on April 4, 2014. Born Sept. 28, 1932 in Olive Hill, KY, she was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Williams Reagan of Olive Hill, KY; father, Harold Moody of Kenova, WV; daughter, Wendy Hall of Wadsworth, OH; grandson, Bobby Hall of Wadsworth, OH; and her sister, Barbara Jacobson of Olive Hill, KY. Janet was retired from Chicago Title Company of Akron, OH. She had served as a past president of the southern New Jersey chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. She and her husband John, of 56 years, were world travelers. She enjoyed co-piloting with John on numerous flights around the country. She loved to cruise/travel, play on POGO, sit on her patio reading from her NOOK, looking through magazines, watching Fox news, smoking, and spending time with her family. WEIS, Stephen N. Sr. age 70, of Tierra Verde, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. He will be miss-ed by many who were recipients of his generosity and love. Stephen was on the Board of Directors of St. Petersburg County Club and a member of St. Petersburg Yacht Club. He was an avid golfer, boater and skier who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
