Published April 10, 2014

As their last year of high school winds down, most seniors don't have even a moment to sit calmly and chat with a reporter. But recently three Leto High seniors who are at the top of their academic game made time to talk with tb-two* about where they are headed, their favorite high school moments and what, when they have it, they like to do in their spare time.

JESSICA MAJOR

Valedictorian

Weighted GPA: 7.24

Attending: University of South Florida, studying biomedical science, wants to be a radiologist

Favorite high school class: AP Calculus AB. I've always liked math, so I enjoyed taking this college-level math class where I can see how it would actually be incorporated into real-life scenarios. I also like how although it is more challenging, I am still managing well in the class. It demonstrates my strength more in the subject.

What she'll miss most from high school: The teachers and counselors that have helped me a lot with schoolwork and personal advice.

What she does in her spare time: Although I spend much of my time studying, I do take a break and relax at times. I often watch Korean and Hong Kong dramas. I like how it enables me to explore different cultures, lifestyles and mindsets.

LINH HO

Salutatorian

Weighted GPA: 7.18

Attending: University of South Florida, studying biomedical science, wants to be either a pharmacist or physician

Favorite high school class: AP Environmental Science. It's a fun class. I like the lecture discussions because I learn something interesting every day. It's less about doing repetitive book work and more about interactive learning.

What she'll miss most from high school: The school lunch. It's not as bad as everyone says. At least, not anymore.

What she does in her spare time: I like to drink coffee when it rains and watch Korean TV dramas. Sometimes I like walking around and people-watching.

AMANDA HERNANDEZ

Honorary speaker

Weighted GPA: 7.09

Attending: University of Florida, studying pre-medicine, wants to become a neurosurgeon

Favorite high school class: My dual enrollment English class, because it was the first class where I had the chance to actually develop my own writing style, and everyone in the class had a lot of great opinions about all the works we read, which was interesting to hear.

What she'll miss most from high school: I'll miss a lot about high school, but the thing I'll miss most is all of the people. It's going to be hard to not see the same people every single day anymore.

What she does in her spare time: I like to watch television shows and get overly attached to certain characters.
