SPURS CLINCH BEST IN THE WEST

Times wires

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Danny Green had a career-high 33 and the Spurs rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat the Suns 112-104 Friday and clinch the league's best record and the Western Conference's top seed.

Kawhi Leonard scored 18 and Tony Parker added 18 points and three assists in his return from a two-game absence due to a back injury.

Green was 7-for-10 on 3-pointers in pushing San Antonio to victory without Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, who both sat out the game for rest.

Eric Bledsoe had 30 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists to lead Phoenix, which fell into a tie with Memphis for the West's eighth seed. Gerald Green scored 27, Markieff Morris added 20 and Channing Frye had 13.

WIZARDS RALLY PAST MAGIC: Nene scored 17 and former Gator Bradley Beal added 16 as the Wizards overcame a sluggish offense and beat the Magic 96-86.

John Wall had 10 points and 12 assists for the Wizards, who ended a two-game losing streak. Trevor Booker finished with 14 points and Marcin Gortat had 12.

Arron Afflalo led Orlando with 19, but the Magic shot just 4-for-15 in the fourth quarter and saw its two-game winning streak end. Jameer Nelson had 12 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds for Orlando and Kyle O'Quinn added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Struggling from the perimeter nearly the entire game, Washington kept its focus in the paint in the fourth quarter. Leading 83-82 with just more than four minutes to play, the Wizards scored nine straight points.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: LeBron James scored 36, and the host Heat moved back atop the Eastern Conference standings by running past the Pacers 98-86. The Heat scored the first 16 points of the second half and weren't in trouble again. ... Carmelo Anthony scored 30, Amare Stoudemore had 24 points and 11 rebounds and the Knicks kept their playoff hopes alive by beating the host Raptors 108-100. The Raptors disappointed a sellout crowd that had hoped to watch them clinch the Atlantic Division title. ... Paul Millsap had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and the Hawks moved closer to a playoff spot with a 93-88 victory over the host Nets. The Hawks could have clinched the final Eastern Conference berth had the Knicks lost.

KNICKS Might SIGN ODOM: The Knicks have expressed interest in signing free agent Lamar Odom, according to espn.com. At the behest of new president Phil Jackson, the Knicks have been looking into signing Odom since his two-month contract in Spain ended. Jackson coached Odom on the Lakers from 2004-11. Odom, 34, could be signed before Wednesday's regular-season finale to a contract that includes a team option for next season.

HAWKS LOSE 'SWEET LOU': Dominique Wilkins hopes young fans take the time to learn about Lou Hudson. Wilkins says they'll discover "Sweet Lou" was one of the best shooting guards in league history.

Mr. Hudson, the smooth-shooting Hawks star who averaged more than 20 points during 13 seasons, died Friday. He was 69.

He died in Atlanta, where he was hospitalized and listed in grave condition last month after a stroke, the Hawks said.

Mr. Hudson was a six-time All-Star while with the Hawks in St. Louis and Atlanta, often playing away from the national spotlight.

"He should be a Hall of Famer, and it's amazing to me he's not,'' Wilkins said. "He was one of the best (shooting) guards and that's a fact. You go back and look at his career and look at the numbers and see what he did and you understand."

His No. 23 was retired by the Hawks, joining Bob Pettit and Wilkins as the only other Hawks players so honored. His No. 14 was retired by the University of Minnesota, where he was one of the school's first black players.

Mr. Hudson averaged 20.2 points for his career. He scored the first points for the new Atlanta team in 1968. Mr. Hudson's 16,049 career points with the Hawks ranks third on the franchise's all-time list behind Wilkins and Pettit.
