GOOD SAMARITAN KILLED IN MIAMI CRASHES

MIAMI

South Florida police say two teens involved in a car crash and a good Samaritan who stopped to help them were killed when another vehicle plowed into them.

Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta says the teens' car collided with an SUV early Sunday in an intersection. The teens got out of their car, and they were joined by a man who stopped to help.

Zabaleta says a red Kia Forte then drove into the scene, hitting all three pedestrians and crashing into the SUV.

The teens and the good Samaritan were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released.

The drivers of the Kia and the SUV were taken to a hospital.

Zabaleta says investigators believe that speed and alcohol may be a factor in the crashes.

LAKE MARY

Woman recovering after bear attack

Wildlife officials are warning residents to watch out for bears on the move, particularly after a Central Florida woman was attacked by a bear outside her home.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says Terri Frana encountered the bear Saturday night outside her Lake Mary home.

Officials say that while several bears were observed nearby, only one bear was responsible for Frana's injuries.

Frana was treated at a hospital and released. Seminole County Fire Rescue officials told reporters that Frana was bitten on her head and arm.

The wildlife commission is investigating and has set several bear traps in the area.

Wildlife officials say bears are leaving their winter dens and looking for food. Their increased activity means it's more likely to spot bears in neighborhoods.
