It was a quarterback battle until the end between the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls and the Hudson Cobras.
Both quarterbacks threw and ran in a touchdown for their team.
The Cobras (1-1) were haunted by 12 penalties and fell to the Bulls 14-13 at home.
The Cobras finished with 165 rushing yards. Juniors Nate Munson and Billy Werner each had 11 carries and split the rushing attack with senior quarterback Joey Caruso (7-for-16 for 43 yards, two touchdowns).
After their second touchdown of the night, from a Caruso run, the Cobras failed to convert on an extra point attempt. The error allowed room for the Bulls to take the lead with a touchdown and extra point.
The Cobras had ample opportunities to take the ball away from the Bulls throughout the night but were unable to recover more than one of the three fumbles. Cobra receiver and defensive back Shawn Tucker also dropped two additional interceptions.
Shane Bucenell finished 14-for-22 with 201 passing yards with a touchdown and ran the ball eight times for 95 yards and a touchdown.
The biggest play of the night cane on a 51-yard touchdown pass from Bucenell to wide receiver Mark Hutchinson. Hutchinson had four receptions for 71 yards.
