Jefferson and Robinson started Friday night in similar situations, each needing a win to get their seasons on track. They first braved out a 30-minute rain delay before finally taking the field. Robinson took an early lead, but in the end it was Jefferson that came out on top with a 24-7 victory.
KEY DRIVE: Jefferson came through with a 50-yard touchdown drive (assisted by a facemask penalty) late in the third quarter to take the lead. The drive was capped by quarterback Cade Weldon's 1-yard touchdown run that gave Jefferson the lead for good.
PLAY OF THE GAME: Ernest Mills intercepted Robinson quarterback Malik Tyson and returned it 76 yards for a touchdown with 1:29 left in the game to put the finishing touches on Jefferson's first district win.
STARS OF THE GAME: Though it was a sloppy night for the Dragon offense, Weldon's two touchdowns (one pass, one rush) proved to be the difference in the game. Robinson's Anfernee Alston rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on the night.
