Kelly Earlise Speer, a Tampa lawyer with a string of legal problems and client complaints, including that she withdrew thousands of dollars from an elderly couple's trust account without permission, has been disbarred. Speer, 35, had been suspended several times by December, when the Florida Bar filed a four-count complaint against her, alleging she had resisted arrest after driving her car into a light pole, among other offenses. A referee determined that she had violated more than a dozen rules governing lawyers in Florida and recommended disbarment to the state Supreme Court. In January 2013, Tampa police arrested her on charges of fleeing the scene of a crash with property damage, obstructing an officer with violence and driving without a valid license. Since then, Speer has failed to appear for a court hearing, prompting an arrest warrant, records show. According to the Bar, she has not responded to its subpoenas either. She did not respond to a request for comment.
