Fred McCormack, 74, a lawyer in private practice and former Florida House of Representatives director and general counsel, died Thursday, Oct.2 while on vacation in Ireland, with his wife Jill Chamberlin McCormack. The cause of death was cardiac arrest.

By avocation, McCormack was a fly fisherman and had a collection of traditional and modern bamboo fly rods. He had fished in North America, Europe, Florida, and the Bahamas.

His trip to Ireland enabled him to fish in the fabled Ballynahinch River and to stay at its historic castle -- once owned by the north Florida investor Ed Ball and business partner Raymond Mason.
