Lakewood started out a little flat in a key district matchup Thursday night against Boca Ciega. Midway through the first quarter, the Spartans jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Ryan Davis connected with Adrian Adams for a 9-yard touchdown. But Derrick Cook hooked up with Raeshon Dunbar for an 8-yard TD to tie the score at 7 in the second quarter. After the teams traded scores again, Davis later used a pair of long touchdown runs to break open a tight game.
KEY DRIVES: On a third and long in the third quarter, Davis dropped back to pass and found an opening, and it was off to the races for a 60-yard run. In the fourth quarter, Davis would repeat the same feat, going 55 yards to pay dirt.
