Step 1: Be famous. Step 2: Create lifestyle website peddling stupid-expensive wares. Step 3: Announce huge personal news on said website. Step 4: Steeple fingers a la Mr. Burns as web traffic swells to the point of causing a crash.

Hey, it worked for Gwyneth Paltrow. Why wouldn't it work for Blake Lively?

Yes, it seems somebody just hit the genetic lottery. And that somebody is the unborn child of the Gossip Girl and husband Ryan Reynolds. Lively announced the good/heartbreaking-for-women-everywhere news Monday on her website, Preserve.

The actress cryptically launched a Preserve Celebration of Family, posting photos of pregnant ladies and congratulating "all the expectant mothers out there." Then she snatched the attention right back from them by sharing a photo of herself cradling her perfectly dressed baby bump glowing in the setting sun.

Lively's desire to start a brood of her own long has been a secret to no one.

"I gotta get started," she told Marie Claire in its September 2014 issue, obviously knowing at that point that she was with child. "If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would."

Reynolds is with her on that one.

"We'd love to have a big family," he told Details in last year's August issue. "We both come from big families - my parents did four, Blake's did five. A lot of people say it's crazy, but we'll only know when we're there, you know? We'll walk through that fire pretty happily, I think."

And soon, as Lively hinted in Vogue's August 2014 issue.

"He's going to be a great father and leader and patriarch - he's so meant to be all of those things," she said of the Waiting star. "The fact that he lived so much before we got together, he's the exact realized person that he should be. And so I get to share my life with the person he's become, and we get to grow from there."

The parents-to-be met while shooting The Green Lantern in 2011. They married in a secret South Carolina ceremony in 2012.
