UPDATE: The Obama administration announced additional measures today.

Joining a chorus of other Republicans, Rep. Vern Buchanan of Sarasota today said the government should tackle Ebola with travel restrictions.

"It makes sense for the government to conduct tighter screening of those trying to enter our country from Ebola-ravaged nations," Buchanan said.

He added in a statement that he wanted the U.S. to send medical supplies to Africa to help combat the disease. "We can keep Americans safe and show compassion by continuing to send in medical supplies to help African nations battling the deadly virus," Buchanan said. "I hope the FAA and other government agencies are reviewing all available options to keep the outbreak from spreading in the United States."
