To say it's been a tough week for Florida coach Will Muschamp would actually be a huge understatement.
First, his rising star freshman QB was suspended on Monday while he's being investigated for an alleged sexual assault of a UF female student.
Then, two of his players got into a fight Monday night - with each other - and police were called.
As first reported in The Gainesville Sun, reserve QB Skyler Mornhinweg and freshman DL Gerald Willis were involved in a fight outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The University Police Department received a call that the two were brawling it out at the stadium. When police arrived around 7 p.m., only one remained at the scene and both declined to press charges. According to a UPD report, the two were in a dispute over a pair of cleats.
Willis said he just grabbed a pair; Mornhinweg confronted him believing they were his.
Florida athletic officials called it "a misunderstanding between two teammates."
The Gators need Mornhinweg, who was treated for lacerations, to stay healthy. With Harris suspended and freshman Will Grier just cleared to practice after missing two weeks suffering from back spasms, Mornhinweg is essentially Florida's backup to Jeff Driskel when the Gators host LSU Saturday night.
Mornhinweg started the final three games of the season last year after Driskel and backup QB Tyler Murphy were injured during the season. He was 44-of-63 for 344 yards and three touchdowns.
