5 things to do under $5: See ‘Paddington 2,’ Perseid meteor shower, Brazilian jazz

1 Paddington 2: In case you missed the buzz when it hit the movie theaters in January, Paddington 2 became the best-reviewed film on Rotten Tomatoes. This week you have two chances to see it on the big screen for less than it costs to buy a jar of marmalade. It will be one of the featured movies Tuesday and Wednesday at Regal’s Summer Movie Express. That means it’s just $1 to see the sweet bear outsmart Hugh Grant at 10 a.m. at Largo Mall 8 in Largo, Citrus Park Stadium 20 and Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park. Or you can take a beach blanket to Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach on Friday and see it for free after sunset, about 8 p.m., on a jumbo-sized screen. As the Hollywood Reporter observed: "Paddington 2 won’t save the world, but its existence makes everything just that tiny bit better and more, well, bearable."

2 Perseid Meteor Shower: The annual summer meteor shower is easier to see if you can get away from the city’s light pollution. There will be a Night Walk 8-10 p.m. Saturday at the Dade Battlefield Historic State Park, 7200 County Road 603, Bushnell, where it’s $3 per vehicle. (352) 793-4781. Or you can go Stargazing in the Park with the Pasco Astronomers group, which will provide telescopes for viewing. 8-10 p.m. Saturday at J.B. Starkey Wilderness Park, 10500 Wilderness Park Blvd., New Port Richey. Free. (727) 255-3083.

5 Back to School Pool Party: Families can enjoy knockerball, kickball, games, slip and slide, DJ dancing and a screening of Jumanji. 6-10 p.m. Friday. Seminole Family Aquatic Center, 9100 113th St. N. Free. (727) 397-6085.
