Justin Long of ‘Jeepers Creepers’ to direct movie in Hillsborough

The film will spend around $1 million in the county this January.

Jeepers creepers, a Justin Long movie is coming to Hillsborough County.

According to its application to receive a county production incentive, cameras will begin rolling on January 2 for Lady of the Manor written and directed by actor Long who is known for the film’s Jeepers Creepers, Galaxy Quest and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

The producer is Tony Stopperan. His credits include Skyman, which was directed by The Blair Witch Project’s Dan Myrick, a Tampa resident who has a production studio in Ybor City.

There is no cast mentioned in the incentive application and the plot is vaguely reported as “a free spirited, female-centered buddy comedy set in an antebellum estate.”

“Tony has worked hard to bring several projects to the bay area,” said Tyler Martinolich, Hillsborough County film commissioner. “This is precisely the type of film our incentive was created to attract.”

The incentive provides 10 percent back on what is spent in Hillsborough. It is doled out following a county audit.

The Lady of the Manor application estimates the production will spend $1 million and be eligible for a $100,000 incentive.

That money will be spent on an estimated 79 crew hires paid and 150 hotel room nights during 15 days of production, according to the application.
